Dr. X is an Utrom scientist that has close ties with Leatherhead, who was caught in the blast of the T.C.R.I. building in the Image and Mirage comics. He is the only character who debuted in the non-canon (by Mirage Studios standards) Image comics to make it into the Mirage comics, where his name was expanded to Xeinos and made female.
He was left behind on Earth after the Utroms left to their home planet, and found and befriended Leatherhead who nursed him back to health. He also played chess with Splinter. Dr. X met Leonardo and Michaelangelo prior to the testing of Leatherhead's second Transmat Device that led to a second Triceraton invasion (TMNT Vol. 3, #19). Dr. X presumably helped Leatherhead construct his two Transmat Devices, though was not seen when Leatherhead recruited members of the Foot Clan and the Turtles to finish up the first Transmat Device he created Leatherhead, Too Vol. 3 #19. When Donatello's cyborg side starts coming apart and threatens Shadow and Splinter, Dr. X fires off an electromagnetic pulse to stop it, which also powers down his exoskeleton. Dr. X tells Don that his armor still thrives, though, but it also had been preventing him from healing from his grave injuries, potentially on purpose. The doctor's research, however, is interrupted when a piece of the armor attempts to take him over, as well. TMNT: Urban Legends #24
