[Opening sequence and theme song.]

[The episode begins in the daytime. The turtles are in the turtle van, which is acting up.]

Michelangelo "Come on, Leonardo, put the pedal to the metal. I gotta get Pete to the zoo animal clinic before it closes."

Leonardo "I'm trying, but the van won't cooperate. It needs a tune-up."

[The van comes to a stop.]

Raphael "Now it needs a push."

Michelangelo "Come on, guys. Let's haul shell."

[The turtles leave the van and take off on foot. They soon arrive at the Park Zoo.]

Donatello "Why do we have to go with you?"

Michelangelo "Because I know how you dudes love to visit the zoo."

Raphael "Hey, if I wanna see a bunch of trapped animals, I'll go watch the subways at rush hour."

[Inside the vet’s clinic at the zoo, Michelangelo meets with the vet.]

Michelangelo "So what's the verdict? How is Pete? Will he be okay, Dr. Goodfellow?"

[Dr. Goodfellow removes the pigeon from the box that Michelangelo brought him in.]

Dr. Jane Goodfellow "He's just fine, Michelangelo. And you can call me Jane."

Michelangelo "Mondo relief."

Jane "His broken wing has healed perfectly. He's ready to fly again."

Michelangelo "Far out! Wait 'til I tell Pete."

Jane "Tell Pete?
[She laughs.]

That pigeon doesn't understand you.
"

Michelangelo "Well, sure he does. We rap all the time. Pete and I are heavy-duty amigos."

Jane "That pigeon is just an animal. It hardly thinks, let alone talks."

Michelangelo "Excuse me. He's not just an animal. In fact, he's a lot smarter than some people I know.
[Pete coos.]

You see? Now you hurt his feelings.
[He leaves the building and joins his brothers.]

We can split now. Pete's wing's totally perfecto.
"

Raphael "Whoopee. Alert the news media."

[They stop when they spot April doing a news report.]

April O’Neil "This is April O'Neil for Channel 6 News here at the Center Park Zoo."

Raphael "Hey, you did alert the news media."

April "The zoo has been the scene of several astonishing robberies in the last few days. Several zoo animals have been stolen from their cages in broad daylight. I'm here with the zoo director who may explain the motive behind these strange thefts."

Zoo Director "Well, then again, maybe not."

April "But as zoo director, you must have some information."

Zoo Director "Well, I don't know anything about animals. My brother-in-law, the mayor, got me this job."

April "Remember, you heard it here first. All right, Charlie, that's a wrap.
[The cameraman walks off and April spots the turtles.]

The turtles. What are you guys doing here?
"

Raphael "Well, Dr. Dolittle here has a pigeon he's nursing back to health. Possibly for a pigeon pizza."

[Michelangelo coos to his pigeon and it coos back.]

Michelangelo "I told him you were just kidding, Raphael."

[He lifts the box lid and Pete coos at him.]

April "Gosh. It does sound like they're actually talking to each other."

Raphael "Why not? They have similar-size brains."

Leonardo "See you later, April. We've got some repairs to make on the turtle van."

April "See you, guys!"

[Over at a Lemur cage, robotic arms spread the bars apart and a robot hand reaches inside to capture a shrieking lemur. Back at the broken down turtle van, the guys are trying to make repairs. Donatello is atop a ladder working on the roof, Michelangelo holds his ladder, and Raphael and Leonardo are underneath the van.]

Donatello "Hey, hold the ladder steady, Michelangelo."

Michelangelo "I am, dude!
[He hears cooing and sees a group of pigeons flying near. They land on the grass next to the van.]

Scope it out. We got some feathered visitors.
"

Raphael "Pigeons? I'm glad I'm working under here."

[Michelangelo takes Pete out of his box.]

Michelangelo "Looks like it's time to let Pete join his buds."

[He sets Pete free and all of the pigeons fly off together.]

Leonardo "We're done. Let's head back to the lair."

Michelangelo "I'll catch you dudes later. I'm gonna check out some more of my four-legged, fur-covered friends."

[In the nearby pond, a periscope rises to survey the area. It tracks Michelangelo walking back to the zoo. The periscope begins moving through the water towards the turtle van. In the driver’s seat, Leonardo revs the engine.]

Leonardo "Listen to that engine. It's purring like a kitten."

[Robotic hands grab onto the bumper of the van. The engine revs as Leonardo presses the gas pedal, but the van doesn’t move.]

Donatello "What's happening?"

Leonardo "I don't know, but we're not moving."

[The robotic hands lift the backend of the van off the ground.]

Donatello "What's happening?"

Leonardo "I don't know.
[A group of robots set the van back down.]

They're robots!
"

Raphael "So what! They messed with our wheels. They answer to us!"

[The turtles leave the van and attack the robots.]

Leonardo "Hyah!"

Raphael "Hyah!"

[In a nearby tree, several pigeons see the fight and fly away. The remaining pigeon, Pete, appears concerned with what he sees. Leonardo draws his swords, but a robot uses a large magnet to take them from him.]

Leonardo "Hey! Give those back!"

[Raphael leaps over a robot and sticks his sai into its neck to pull out some wires.]

Raphael "Well, well, just as I thought. No brains!
[The robot sparks, falls over, and breaks apart.]

One down!
"

Donatello "Two to go!
[He strikes a robot over the head with his but it snaps in half.]

Uh-oh.
"

[A compartment on the robots stomach opens and ropes fly out to bind all three of the turtles.]

All "Whoa!"

[The robots pick them up and carry them to a submarine, which rises from the water.]

Donatello "Make that three turtles to go."

Raphael "I hope that's not with a side of fries."

[Michelangelo returns to the turtles’ lair.]

Splinter "Greetings, Michelangelo. I'm surprise that you are the first to return from the zoo."

Michelangelo "I am? That's weird. The guys should have been back here hours ago."

Splinter "Hmm. Perhaps that is why I have been sensing the presence of a great evil."

Michelangelo "What sort of evil, Master Splinter?"

Splinter "It appears to be an island clouded in mist, where I fear our turtles are in grave danger.
[An image of the island is displayed as he describes it.]

You must rescue them, Michelangelo.
"

Michelangelo "I--I'm not the turtle to handle this, Master. I'm not a leader like Leonardo. I can't make gadgets like Donatello. I'm not even a wise guy like Raphael."

Splinter "No matter. You are part of a team, and your teammates need your help."

Michelangelo "But I don't know where to start."

Splinter "When needed, we all find skills we did not know we possess. Now hurry! Time is of the essence."

Michelangelo "Are you sure I'm ready for this, Master?"

[Splinter pushes Michelangelo out of the lair.]

Splinter "Yes, my student, you are ready."

Michelangelo "Sensei, I hope you're right."

Splinter "I hope I am, too, my student."

[Michelangelo returns to the turtle van.]

Michelangelo "Total bummer! My compadres are gone!
[He hears a noise in the bushes.]

All right, dude, come outta there... whoever you are.
[Pete flies up and onto his shoulder.]

Pete! What are you doing here? It's way past your birdie bedtime.
"

[Pete flaps his wings and coos.]

Michelangelo "You saw what happened? Lay the whole story on me, bro."

[Cut to the island that Splinter saw in his vision. On it is the City Power Plant, which has a sign that that says “Closed”. Inside the building are cages filled with animals who have been mutated. The turtles are each in individual cages as well.]

Donatello "This is incredible. All these mutant creatures."

Leonardo "I'll bet this is where all those missing zoo animals wound up."

Dr. Lesseau "You would win that bet, my muscular green friend."

Raphael "Who are you? And what is this place?"

Dr. Lesseau "Welcome to the island of Dr. Lesseau."

Raphael "Why do I have the feeling this is no Club Med?"

Dr. Lesseau "With my mutator laser, I have created all the creatures you see here."

Donatello "But why?"

Dr. Lesseau "Because I want to create a single animal with the best traits of all animals. The courage of a tiger. The strength of an elephant. The bird's power of flight. With an army of such perfect animals, I can conquer the world! And incidentally, get my job back as director of the zoo. But to complete my perfect animal, I need the superb intelligence of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

Donatello "Well, superb intelligence may be a bit of an exaggeration."

Dr. Lesseau "Nonsense! I intend to get that intelligence, no matter how painful it may be... for you!"

[He manipulates the controls and turns the laser onto a platform, where it starts to burn a hole.]

Donatello "On the other hand, we've never really done well on quickie quizzes."

Raphael "I got a feeling we're all gonna be losers on this test."

Dr. Lesseau "Now, which of you will volunteer to be first?"

Leonardo "You're wasting your time. You'll not get the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to help you in your evil work."

Raphael "Don't you just love the way he delivers those noble speeches?"

Dr. Lesseau "Before you decided not to cooperate, I'd like you to meet a few of my little friends. Gentlemen, meet Brutus."

[A door opens to admit Brutus, who is a mutant cross between a gorilla and a water buffalo. Brutus roars and approaches the caged turtles.]

Turtles "Hey! Go easy there! Hey! Ho, ho, whoa!"

Dr. Lesseau "Between Brutus and my robots, I don't believe you'll give me much trouble."

Donatello "Hey, this guy doesn't play fair."

Raphael "Villains aren't supposed to. It's in their contract."

[Return to Michelangelo, who is hearing the full story from Pete.]

Michelangelo "Robots with giant arms? Right here on this spot? Whoa! And I wasn't here to help.
[Pete coos.]

But you didn't see where the robots took 'em. Aw, don't feel bad, Pete. You did fine. Mondo bummer. I don't know how to find my buds. I'm no turtle tracker.
[The light from flashlight hits him.]

Hey! Who's there?
"

Jane "Talking to pigeons again, Michelangelo?"

Michelangelo "Uh, Doc! I--I mean Dr. Goodfellow. What are you doing out at this time of night?"

Jane "Trying to find out who's stealing the zoo animals. But I could ask the same of you. What are you doing here out of your disguise?"

Michelangelo "Something totally awful happened to my turtle pals."

Jane "And I suppose you got the information from Pete the pigeon here."

Michelangelo "Exactamundo."

Jane "Michelangelo, listen to me. Pigeons and humans--
[chuckles]

-- excuse me-- mutant turtles, don't speak the same language.
"

Michelangelo "Well, neither do you and I!
[He walks off in a tiff and then trips over something.]

Whoa! Uhh!
"

Jane "Michelangelo, are you all right?"

Michelangelo "I am a turtle, remember? I tripped over something. It's a piece of Donatello's bō. That proves it! The turtles had a battle right here."

Jane "Actually, there was a trail of odd footprints that I followed from the broken cage. They led right to this spot."

Michelangelo "Fantabulosa! Let's scope 'em out!"

Jane "Here. Look at these."

Michelangelo "What totally weird footprints."

Jane "Yes. They're almost like those of a primate, but too square and heavy."

Michelangelo "They're headed straight for the lake. The dudes must have had a boat."

Jane "A boat? That's ridiculous. There's nowhere to go except the island."

[Michelangelo hears Splinter’s voice.]

Splinter "An island clouded in mist, where I fear our turtles are in grave danger."

Jane "What was that?"

Michelangelo "Oh, just a voice-over. Oh, never mind. I'll explain later. Right now, we gotta latch onto a boat."

[They approach a small building built partway over the lake.]

Jane "This is the zoo boathouse. It hasn't been used in years."

Michelangelo "I just hope the boat's in better shape than the boathouse.
[They find a small rowboat inside.]

Okay, hop in.
"

Jane "You've gotta be kidding."

Michelangelo "Hey, it floats. And it even comes equipped with turtle power. What more could you ask for?"

[Pete coos.]

Jane "Oh, brother."

[Michelangelo rows out onto the lake. Pete flies ahead of the boat.]

Michelangelo "Way to go, Pete! You lead the way."

Jane "I still think this is crazy. That island has been deserted for years, ever since the power plant was shut down."

Michelangelo "I still take the word of my bird."

[Cut to the Power Plant.]

Dr. Lesseau "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, catch a turtle and watch him go."

Donatello "Hey, my name is not Moe. It's Donatello."

Dr. Lesseau "That one!"

[Brutus pulls the door off of Donatello’s cage.]

Donatello "Four against one, huh? I can handle that.
[Brutus grabs him by the shoulders and picks him up.]

On second thought, there's too much violence on television already.
"

[Donatello is strapped down on a table.]

Dr. Lesseau "And now to find out what makes you mutant turtles so intelligent."

Donatello "Well, how about if I just tell you? See, it's probably all the pizza we eat. Or then again—"

[Dr. Lesseau positions his laser above Donatello.]

Dr. Lesseau "Quiet! It's not your mouth I'm interested in. It's your brain!"

Donatello "Oh. Well, uh, I'm kinda attached to that."

Dr. Lesseau "But not for long! Ha, ha, ha, ha!"

Raphael "Poor Donatello. He's about to go from brainiac to broccoli."

Dr. Lesseau "This won't hurt a bit."

Donatello "Yeah, that's what my dentist always says."

[An alarm starts beeping.]

Dr. Lesseau "Ach! Interruptions! Always interruptions! How can I ever get anything accomplished!"

Donatello "Don't hurry back on my account."

[Dr. Lesseau goes to his control panel and activates the monitor, which shows Michelangelo and Dr. Goodfellow in the rowboat.]

Dr. Lesseau "Well, it appears we have visitors."

Leonardo "It's Michelangelo! He's come looking for us!"

Dr. Lesseau "I knew there was a fourth turtle. Excellent. Now I'll have the complete set."

[The rowboat nears the island. Pete lands behind Michelangelo and coos.]

Michelangelo "Pete says this is definitely where they took 'em."

Jane "I'm having a really hard time with the idea that you understand that pigeon's noises."

Michelangelo "Hey, like I don't understand how you heal the animals I bring you, but I believe in you anyway."

Jane "Well, you got me there."

[Dr. Lesseau spies on them.]

Dr. Lesseau "Now we'll see which is better. Their rowboat or my robot submarine."

[He activates the submarine periscope.]

Michelangelo "Did you ever have a feeling someone was watching you?"

Jane "A periscope. Headed this way."

Michelangelo "I'll just bet there's a submarine attached to it.
[The submarine rises and bears down on them.]

Oh, I was afraid of that.
"

[The submarine fires a torpedo.]

Jane "Aah!"

[Michelangelo maneuvers the rowboat out of the way.]

Dr. Lesseau "Hmm. I assume the turtle can swim. Let us see if Dr. Goodfellow can."

[The submarine races towards the boat.]

Jane "It's going to ram our boat."

Michelangelo "Not if I can help it."

[He dives into the water and swims under the submarine. Pulling out a hook attached to a rope, Michelangelo throws it onto the submarine’s propeller. There is a grinding sound as the propeller slows and then the submarine veers off course before exploding.]

Michelangelo "All right!"

[Pete lands on his head and coos.]

Jane "Ah. Thanks, Michelangelo. I thought you deserted me."

Michelangelo "Oh, no way, dudette—I-I mean Dr. Dudette. I got a weird feeling that someone doesn't want us on this island.
[Cooing.]

And Pete agrees.
"

Jane "I never thought I'd be saying this, but I agree with Pete."

Dr. Lesseau "Oh, blast it! That robot submarine cost a fortune! Well, that troublesome turtle is about to become fish food."

[Dr. Goodfellow has taken over rowing the boat.]

Michelangelo "There's something about those lily pads that seems awfully bogus. Maybe we oughta go around them."

Jane "Nonsense, Michelangelo. A lily pad is a lily pad."

[There are bombs attached to the lily pads.]

Michelangelo "Except when the lily pad is ticking!
[He grabs the oars.]

Let's boogie! Warp speed!
"

Jane "We aren't gonna make it!"

Michelangelo "Hang on!"

[He jumps out of the boat and gives it a hard shove. The lily pad bombs explode after the boat passes them.]

Jane "Michelangelo! Get outta there!"

[Michelangelo starts swimming and then there’s an explosion. Dr. Goodfellow doesn’t see him. Dr. Lesseau watches on his monitor.]

Jane "Michelangelo! Michelangelo, where are you?"

Dr. Lesseau "Heh, heh, heh. Excellent! Excellent! I hate to disappoint you, but your turtle friend is gone."

Donatello "Michelangelo?"

Leonardo "We'll get you for this, Lesseau."

Jane "Michelangelo, where are you? Pete, did you see any sign of Michelangelo? Great. Now I'm starting to talk to pigeons."

[Michelangelo climbs into the boat.]

Michelangelo "Hey, nothing to be ashamed of. I do it all the time."

Jane "Oh, Michelangelo! You're all right.
[She hugs him and then jumps back.]

Sorry. I...thought you'd been hurt. And you did save my life.
"

Michelangelo "Oh, no problemo, Docette. I know I'm irresistible. But now we've got some other lives to save. Your animals."

Jane "And your friends."

[They both start rowing. Soon they are looking at a fence, with the boat pulled onto dry land.]

Jane "The old power plant is on the other side of this fence. I bet that's where we start looking."

[She pulls aside a loose section of fence and they enter the Power Plant grounds. While she’s walking, Dr. Goodfellow’s foot touches a wire strung across the path. An alarm is activated and the sound draws Dr. Lesseau’s attention.]

Dr. Lesseau "Oh, now what? What's this? That shellback is on the island."

Leonardo "All right!"

Raphael "Michelangelo's alive."

Dr. Lesseau "I don't care how smart he is, he'll never get past my booby-traps."

Raphael "Michelangelo? Smart? Boy, has he got the wrong turtle."

Jane "Maybe our host thinks his lily pads finished us off."

[A tank-like vehicle rolls towards them through the woods. It has a cat’s head and a weapon mounted on top.]

Michelangelo "I seriously doubt it."

[The head opens and a weapon pops out to fire a laser blast at them. Michelangelo pushes Dr. Goodfellow out of the way. The laser continues firing and Michelangelo pulls Dr. Goodfellow behind a large log.]

Jane "What is that thing?"

Michelangelo "I don't think it's the welcome wagon."

[He throws a big rock at the weapon and it plugs up the opening. When the laser tries to fire again, the weapon explodes and destroys the robotic vehicle.]

Jane "Way to go, Michelangelo! Uh, I mean, excellent throw."

Michelangelo "You're really getting into this, aren't you, Doc?"

Jane "Me? Definitely not. Well, maybe a little."

Michelangelo "What truly bugs me is how does this dude know we're here?
[Pete coos and draws their eyes upwards to where he’s sitting on a camera.]

Pete!
"

Jane "Video cameras. So that's how they're tracking us."

Michelangelo "Well, so what do we do now? It's too far to hit it with a rock.
[Pete flies down and plucks a branch from a small plant. He flies back up and uses the leaf covered branch to block the camara lens.]

Gnarly notion, micro-dude!
"

Jane "Bravo, Pete!"

Dr. Lesseau "Oh, blast that bird! He's ruined everything!"

Raphael "Poor guy. Now he can't watch "Wild Kingdom”."

Donatello "If I could just loosen this strap.
[He looks over when he hears a squawking sound. A part toucan/rabbit/bird mutant is looking at him.]

Hey. Hey, fella? Can you help me?
[The mutant pecks at the cuff on Don’s wrist.]

Keep it up, fella! If I get free, we'll all be free.
"

[The cuff breaks open and Donatello sits up to open the other cuff. He sees Dr. Lesseau coming and lies down as though still bound.]

Dr. Lesseau "That mutant misfit friend of yours is making me mad!"

Donatello "Funny, I thought you already were mad."

Dr. Lesseau "Well, I have just the thing to stop him.
[He presses a button and a group of robots marches towards him.]

Get that turtle! Any way you can!
"

[The robots march off. Meanwhile, Michelangelo and Dr. Goodfellow have found a door into the Power Plant. They reach it, but the big metal double doors are shut tight.]

Michelangelo "Major bummer. There's no way we'll ever get through this door."

Jane "The logical approach would be to knock."

[She knocks.]

Michelangelo "Oh, right. Like, the guy's just gonna open it."

[The doors open.]

Jane "You were saying?"

[The robots are standing there.]

Michelangelo "You were saying?"

Jane "I was saying let's get the heck out of here!
[The robots fire at them and then march after them.]

We can outrun them.
"

Michelangelo "Yeah, but my compadres are inside. We gotta help 'em! I suddenly got a wild idea."

[He picks up Dr. Goodfellow and runs towards some vines.]

Jane "What are you doing?"

Michelangelo "Me Michelangelo.
[He grabs a vine and swings.]

You Jane. I've waited the whole show to say that.
"

[When he swings at the robots, he yells like Tarzan. As he swings between two robots, they turn to fire and blast each other. Michelangelo and Jane swing into the building, with Pete flying behind them. Dr. Lesseau laughs evilly.]

Dr. Lesseau "Listen. It sounds like your friends have been blasted to eternity. Voilà! Enter my victorious robots."

[The door opens to admit Michelangelo, Jane, and Pete.]

Michelangelo "Wrong answer, dude. You should have picked door number three."

Dr. Lesseau "Oh! The fourth turtle!"

Michelangelo "No duh. Tell that man what he's won, Donatello."

[Donatello hops up, free of his bindings.]

Donatello "Right, Mike. An all-expense paid trip to the penitentiary of your choice for a full twenty years or two-hundred forty months, whichever comes sooner."

[He grabs some tools and frees the other two turtles.]

Leonardo "Turtles, fight with honor!"

Dr. Lesseau "You'll never stop me, you wretched reptiles!"

[He presses some buttons and a door opens to admit a robot shaped like a bear.]

Michelangelo "Another one! Where does this dude do his shopping? Robots "R" Us?"

Donatello "Raphael, hit the power switch."

[Donatello grabs the laser. Raphael throws a sai and hits the switch. The laser fires and zaps the bear robot.]

Raphael "Good shooting, Donatello! You win a stuffed toy."

Donatello "As long as it's not a teddy bear."

[He shoots again and fully destroys the bear robot. The caged mutant animals all start howling, bleating, and squawking. Dr. Lesseau pulls a switch to open their cages.]

Dr. Lesseau "Destroy the turtles!"

[The animals run out of their cages and start for the turtles, but then stop and turn on Dr. Lesseau.]

Donatello "Who said they're dumb animals? They know the good guys from the bad guys."

Dr. Lesseau "No! Not me, you stupid mutants! The turtles!"

[He runs and gets to an elevator before the animals can grab him.]

Leonardo "He's getting away!"

Donatello "He probably has a boat stashed somewhere on the island."

Jane "Oh, these poor creatures. Look what that awful man did to them."

Donatello "I think I can figure out how to reverse the effects of this mutating device."

Leonardo "Great! Then we can return all these animals to normal."

Michelangelo "The elevator's coming back down."

Raphael "If it's another robot, I quit!"

[The door opens. Brutus has a hold of Dr. Lesseau while Pete pecks his head.]

Dr. Lesseau "Put me down! Ow! Ow!"

[Cut to the zoo, where the mutated animals have been returned to normal and are back in their homes.]

Jane "Thanks, Donatello. The animals are all back to normal. And thanks to all you turtles. Especially you, Michelangelo."

Michelangelo "Hey, when it comes to animals, I go all mushy."

[Pete lands on Dr. Goodfellow’s shoulder and coos at her.]

Jane "Well, I guess Pete is finally convinced I'm okay."

Michelangelo "For sure! He may have the brain of a pigeon, but he's got the heart of a turtle."

[Pete coos and kisses Dr. Goodfellow’s lips.]
