In the IDW continuity, Waster is one of a gang of four mercenaries hired by Madame Null to capture Dreadmon. Like his cohorts, he is a human-born mutant with cyborg enhancements that allow him to shift between human and mutant forms.
They caught up to Dreadmon as he was speaking with Sally Pride and Man Ray. Waster used his immense strength to temporarily immobilize their car, but was shot by Ray, whom he then captured. When Deadaim blew out the car's tire, Waster yanked off the door and attempted to capture Dreadmon, without success. However, he managed to capture Sally, and attempted to kill her on Colonel Fist's command.
He was then hit by the team's own vehicle, which Ray had stolen. The four mercenaries chased them, but were ultimately thwarted and left in the New Jersey wilderness.
