Wakinyan Tanka (Standard Lakota Orthography: Wakíŋyaŋ Tȟáŋka) is the Lakotan name for the Great Thunderbird, which depending on the specific tribe could either be the highest "ranking" thunderbird, or an entire council of Great Thunderbirds.
In Eastman and Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #27: Dreams of Stone, Radical summons a Wakinyan Tanka she says is one of four Great Thunderbirds. It erupts from a campfire and tells her that the "four creatures" present were prepared by Radical's grandfather to assist her, but also reminded her to not forget her own strengths before flying off into the night.
