File:April O'Neil (VRC6) NSF by Gilgameshkun.ogg

This may be the most complicated chiptune I've ever done. I actually started it back in April, and wanted to publish it in April. (Yes, I so wanted to make that joke. XD) But everything conspired to prevent me from getting things done. But recently, I felt a burst of fresh motivation, and finally completed it today.

This is from the MegaDrive/Genesis version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters. Compared to the Super NES version, it was mechnically a mediocre fighting game. However, what it did have was a first class soundtrack by the now-retired Miki Higashino, better known for composing Salamander/Lifeforce and the Suikoden games. This was also one of the only (is it still the only?) TMNT game where April O'Neil is actually a playable character.

I had a little adventure after I completed this. I exported the first "perfect" NSF, but then accidentally corrupted part of the FTM data. My conscience wouldn't let me publish a NSF without the accompanying FTM, so I ended up painstakingly piecing together FTM data after the fact, until it finally exported to NSF data that was identical to my earlier export.

Anyway, this is done in FamiTracker using the Konami VRC6 chipset. I can't say this is the first VRC6 chiptune where I used all eight channels (four square waves, triangle wave, noise, DPCM and sawtooth wave), but I made good use of all of them, including three DPCM percussion samples.
