Some TMNT stuff was always meant for grownups. |
Ursids are a species of anthropomorphic bear-like aliens in Mirage continuity. They only appear in the non-TMNT spin-off story, The Lesson: A Tale of the Triceraton Marines from the Grunts one-shot.
History[]
The Ursids are enemies of the Triceratons. Outside of their military applications, it is unknown what their society entails of.
During Zule's flashback story in The Lesson, the Triceratons and Ursids fought over a planet that both claimed as their territory. Zule came across one Ursid during his deployment on that planet, and the Ursid dropped his gun and drew a knife. Zule realized what the Ursid was thinking - that gunfire would alert the surrounding encampments of both parties, but with a knife fight, the victor could ambush his enemies in silence. Zule dropped his gun and equipped his knife as well and the two began to fight, mostly resulting in close-quarters brawling.
At one point after Zule was knocked down, the Ursid rushed him to deliver the coup de grâce. Zule instinctively bent down in a "Triceraton defensive position" and the Ursid was impaled by his left horn hard enough to break off the horn in his wound. The pain of his broken horn and other injuries caused Zule to pass out. When he awoke, he found in a nearby valley the bodies of his entire platoon as well as the entire Ursid soldier faction, having killed each other while he was unconscious.
