Some TMNT stuff really isn't for little kids.

In the IDW continuity, the Turtle Van is the name given to the Turtles' new van. It was previously Old Hob's van and was the primary mode of transportation for the Mighty Mutanimals until Desperate Measures, part 4, when the Mutanimals seized an even more powerful vehicle from the Earth Protection Force and let the Turtles drive home in Hob's van.

In Battle Lines, part 1, Donatello is revealed to have made alterations to the van, with the name "Turtle Van" now emblazoned in small letters on its side. He later revealed that he, Harold and Libby had added sensors, infrared, anti-gravity, cloaking and other technologies to the van, although the cloaking device would drain the battery quickly if used too much.

In City at War, part 1, the upper part of the van above the door handles has been painted yellow while the lower part remains green. It is also shown cloaked for the first time.

After Harold's departure from Earth, he ordered Nobody and Alopex to destroy the vehicle. They found Krang (partially controlling Leatherhead) attempting to use the van to contact Burnow Island. The van was wrecked in the fight that ensued.

Trivia[]

  • The Turtle Van as received from Hob appears not to have been the first model of van he drove, as a fundamentally different model of van appeared earlier in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutanimals miniseries. The story has never addressed this difference, and it is not established whether these are different vehicle models or merely a change in reference art models.
  • Unlike other incarnations of the Turtle Van, it retains an otherwise ordinary vehicle look and is not painted with loud colors or shell patterns. Even when the van is painted, the color contrast is kept relatively subtle and realistic.
