Turtlantis is an underwater city somewhere off the eastern coast of the United States, in the Atlantic Ocean. It debuted in Voyage to... Turtlantis.
History[]
Turtlantis is analogous to Atlantis, which they have a rivalry with, or at least, King Lodrom does. While it is unknown how Alim Coelacanth and Atlantis as a whole feel about Turtlantis, Lodrom is paranoid that they are trying to steal their ideas and technology and says they copied Turtlantis by having a city under the sea.
Turtlanteans are, by and large, merpeople, although they seem to venerate turtles, specifically anthropomorphic ones.
Slash found his way to Turtlantis at some point shortly before the Ninja Turtles did, becoming a gladiator in their arena. As the champion of Turtlantis' arena, he is given special previleges that make him more powerful than the royals King Lodrom and Queen Kallista, according to Turtlantean law. They are also forbidden to remove him from power, and he must be defeated in combat to replace him.
The Ninja Turtles, one day, were in a submarine investigating the disappearance of some T.C.R.I. technology that went missing in the ocean. They are atteched by a giant mechanical squid, and brought to Turtlantis. The Turtlantean guards open their sub and are astonished to see more turtles.
The Ninja Turtles are taken before the king and queen, who introduce themselves and their society. The Ninja Turtles tell them why they've come, and Queen Kallista says that their Mechanosquid recovered the T.C.R.I. probe and brought it there. In exchange for returning the probe, King Lodrom asks that they defeat Slash so that he can no longer terrorize the city.
The Ninja Turtles fight Slash, but are having a hard time against their brutish doppelgänger. Donatello gets an idea and heads back to the king and queen to ask if they could breathe underwater, to which Lodrom replies that they can and the dome is only in place because he likes his socks dry. Donatello suggests breaking the dome, but Kallista says they can just vent the water inside, forcing Slash to leave at some point since he can't live underwater for very long. The city is vented and Slash attacks the Turtles' sub on their way out, and they shake him off far enough away to where he can't just find the city easily again.
Unfortunately the Ninja Turtles forgot to retrieve the probe; however they got to keep their gladiator gear and decide to gift it to T.C.R.I.
