The Turtlanteans are a species of ocean life from Turtlantis. They appear in the Saturday Morning Adventures comics. Turtlanteans are amphibious, with green skin, fins, webbed feet and and tails. Turtlanteans revere turtles and much of their domed city's decor consists of turtle statues and shell emblems. The guards wear shells as shoulder guards. The roofs are buildings and dwelling throughout the city are shaped like turtle shells.
History[]
While traveling through the ocean in a TCRI submarine during a mission for Professor McGuffin, the Turtles are nabbed by a huge Mechanosquid and taken into a domed underwater city. The hatch on the submarine is opened by a group of Turtlanteans guards, who are surprised to see turtles inside. They take the Turtles to the throne room, where they meet King Lodrom and Queen Kallista. Leonardo asks if there is a connection between Turtlantis and Atlantis, but Lodrom scoffs at the question. He says that the Atlanteans only sank their city because they did it first. It becomes clear that there is no love lost between the Turtlanteans and the inhabits of Atlantis.
The Turtlanteans had found the probe that the Turtles were searching for and King Lodrom is happy to return it, but needs their help with something first. Part of the Turtlantean culture includes gladiator style fighting in an arena with hundreds of spectators. The Turtles are asked to fight the current champion, who has been terrorizing the city and won't leave until beaten. This champion turns out to be Slash. He proves too tough to beat, but Donatello schemes with the King and Queen to flood the city and leave it flooded long enough for Slash to be forced to leave due to being unable to breathe underwater. This plan works and the Turtles make their exit from Turtlantis in the sub.
