Tohoru Masamune is a Japanese American actor who plays The Shredder in the 2014 live-action film. William Fichtner originally portrayed Shredder, but Tohoru took on the role after the announcement and teaser, due to some controversy of Shredder not being Japanese. Fichtner still plays Shredder in his suit (voiced over by Masamune) and Masamune does the unmasked scenes and Shredder's in-suit voice. Fichtner's new role in the film, Eric Sacks was going to become Shredder instead of Oroku Saki (Shredder's real name), but they cut all scenes of Sacks mentioning being Shredder and putting on the Shredder suit and replaced them with new scenes of Masamune as unmasked Shredder and got him to also do Shredder's in-suit voiceover.
Tohoru Masamune later voiced Samurai #2-4 in the 2012 TV series episode "Yojimbo".
