Summary[]
Below the city, in the sewers, the Turtles are on a training mission. They are, however, very bored. Suddenly, they see the shadows of Footbots and draw their weapons. They quickly go into action, slashing and striking their enemies. As Leonardo slices one in half, he says that they are rubbish and Raphael replies that is why they keep beating them. However, Leo means it literally. They look down at the ‘Footbot’ he slashed and see that it’s actually clothing stuffed with straw. Realizing they were fighting fake Footbots, they wonder who made them.
A voice calls out from nearby to lay claim to the trick. It turns out the mastermind behind the trick was their own Master Splinter. He made the fake Footbots in order to test their fighting skills and is most impressed that it only took them under ten seconds to destroy them all. Splinter says that this calls for their favorite reward – pizzas.
Soon, dressed in trenchcoats and fedoras, the Turtles are topside heading to Tracy's Pizzas. Donatello mentions the fact that New York is really quiet today, but Michaelangelo assures him that there will be plenty of noise once he starts eating. Inside, they encounter something else that’s strange as the woman behind the counter, Tracy, doesn’t respond to them. She is standing as though a statue and even her pizza is frozen mid-spin.
The Turtles step outside and look around. Everyone and everything has come to a complete standstill. The people look like they are all statues. A street performer in a clown costume is frozen in mid-juggle, his juggling balls still up in the air, and Don says that it’s as if time has stopped moving. Suddenly, a loud pounding sound breaks the silence and the Turtles head down an alleyway to investigate. As they look out at the street, what they see gives them an intense shock. It is a parade, right down the center of the street, with Krang and Shredder in the lead car waving their hands as if to an adoring crowd. Behind them are scores of Footbots, the ones in front acting as a band. Krang is gloating over their conquest of New York.
In horror, the Turtles watch the ‘parade’ go past and they all agree that this is a mega disaster. Don says that they have to find out what’s happened and Raph wants to know how. Leaning out of the alley, Don hisses and draws the attention of a group of Footbots. When the Footbots investigate the noise, the Turtles attack and destroy them. Holding up one of the heads, Don says the Footbot’s memory circuit is all he needs and they go back down to the lair. In his lab, Don gets right to work hooking the Footbot head up to his machines. After making some adjustments, he projects an image from the memory circuit to the large monitor on the wall.
The memory circuit replays the past activities of Krang and Shredder deep in Central Park. Krang has brought a Giant Crystal Hourglass from Dimension X. With the device at Krang’s command, he has the power to freeze the flow of time. It is then he switches on the crystal hourglass and brings everything to a standstill. Raph wants to know why they weren’t also frozen, but Don isn’t sure, guessing it’s either because they are mutants or because the time tampering energy waves can’t travel underground. Splinter says that whatever the reason, it is up to the four of them to save New York. Leo assures him that they will turn back the clock on Krang and Shredder’s twisted time-plan.
Deep in Central Park, Footbots stand guard around the crystal hourglass while Krang brags about how he’ll be king of New York forever. A noise stops his boasting and he demands to know what’s happened. A Footbot points at something nearby and Shredder is astonished at what he sees. It is the Turtle Van, roaring straight at them. Krang shouts for Shredder to order his Footbots to stop them. Footbots leap out at the van, but Donatello runs them over. Shredder races to the crystal hourglass as the van bears down on him and turns the power of the hourglass on the van. This causes the van to go backwards in time and break up into its unbuilt parts.
Don lays unmoving among the pile of parts on the ground and Shredder orders the Footbots to smash the Turtles. The Footbots leap on Don, who appears to be the only Turtle still moving. They drag Don before Krang and the Turtle tells him that his time plan will never work. Krang chortles that it seems to have made history of all the Turtles. However, when the Footbots drag the other “Turtles” from the van, it becomes apparent that they are fakes – Turtle costumes stuffed with straw. The very second Shredder has the realization as to what that means, Leo taps him on the shoulder. Shredder spins around and Leo informs him that it’s time for him to taste Turtle Power!
The Turtles attack and Raph takes down the Footbots holding Don so that he, too, can join the fight. Mike has borrowed Don’s bō and uses it to knock the heads and arms off of Footbots. As the Turtles pound the Footbots, they make time quips. Krang yells at Shredder that they must not let the Turtles win and for him to turn the time device on them before it’s too late. At the controls, Shredder turns the time-freezing device on the green team and they quickly find that they can’t move. Leo equates it to being stuck in quicksand.
Summoning up the last reserves of his ninja fighting energy, Leo frees himself with a single bound. He comes down on one hand in order to kick Krang, sending him flying directly at the crystal hourglass. Krang crashes into it, causing a great explosion that destroys the machine. Cursing the loss, Krang and Shredder make a hasty exit. The Turtles share the joy of being able to move again and decide that it’s been ages since they had pizza.
