Synopsis[]

As the group of heroes travel to Castle Grayskull, a disembodied female voice explains its origins. She tells them that the dawn of time and space began with a spark of power; the first power of the universe. Eternia, the first planet, grew around the spark of the universe. The fortress Castle Grayskull was built to protect the spark from chaos and evil. Castle Grayskull is an impenetrable safekeep powerful enough to house infinite mysteries. The woman calls herself the keeper of Castle Grayskull and welcomes them within its walls, saying that the answers they seek lie within.

Raphael is skeptical about walking into the mouth of the giant skull, but Leonardo tells him that if this is where they find answers, it’s where they need to be. Michelangelo muses on the difficulty of getting a pizza delivered to the castle. The group enters what Duncan calls the “Hallway of Holograms and Illusions”. The ceiling shows a vista of the universe and planets and Duncan warns the Turtles not to stare into the void because it can be disorienting.

Suddenly, a familiar voice calls out and the Turtles see Casey Jones walking towards them. As Raph greets him, Casey says he found a super dope weapons rack and modded out his hockey gear. Raph asks him what he’s doing in Castle Grayskull. Casey explains that he borrowed the Turtle Van and followed the guys to Shredder’s hideout. He says there was this bright light, and then they woke up inside the castle. Donatello asks what he means by “we” and Casey answers that it was her idea to borrow the van. This is when Casey pushes open a nearby door and leads the group to April O'Neil and the Sorceress.

April is wearing a skintight yellow and white suit, a falcon headdress, and has wings attached to her back. Leo asks why she’s dressed that way and April explains that there was a white light and a voice called out her name. She followed it down a long tunnel when she was suddenly shot out into the most crystal blue water she’s ever seen. Sorceress calls it the Pool of Power. The next thing April knew, she flew out of the water dressed like this.

Sorceress addresses them then and says that April is the key to the answers they seek regarding the ooze plague. She instructs them to travel beneath Castle Grayskull to the Dwell of Souls. Leo bows and thanks her, saying that Shredder and Krang are their problem and should not be hers. Casey, April and the Turtles begin the journey, but Duncan and Teela remain behind to talk to Sorceress about He-Man. She is already aware that he has mutated and says that unfortunately, they do not have the tool needed to cure him. Teela exclaims that the Sword of Power has fallen into Skeletor’s hands, but Sorceress tells her that it has not. Before He-Man fell to the alien poison, he threw the Power Sword as far as he could cast it. Teela asks where it is now, but the location is hidden from Sorceress’ view. They can only hope that their new friends will find answers.

Meanwhile, the Turtles, April and Casey have reached the Dwell of Souls. It is a spacious, dungeon-like room, with prison cells containing all manner of odd creature. At its center is a circular pit in which a blue fire burns. April apologizes for not knowing what to do because having powers is new to her. The Turtles take seats around the pit. Leo says that Master Splinter always tells them to meditate and the answers will come to them. April dutifully closes her eyes. A moment later the guys call out to her because she is flying and the blue flame is all around her. Leo tells her that whatever she’s doing, to keep doing it. However, April freaks out, overwhelmed by her new power. Raph leaps up to grab her and both receive a shock that knocks them to the ground.

Leo checks on Raph and asks why he always does something so Raph. April wants to know what happened and a familiar voice calls out that he believes he is what happened. The group looks up to see Splinter, decked out in flowing robes, floating above them. They are confused and April says it’s the Spirit of Grayskull but also Splinter. Raph wonders if they are supposed to call him Splinter-Skull. Splinter tells them that the Sword of Power calls through him and is hiding from its master, He-Man, fearful that it will be found by greater evil. Splinter says they must recover it first. Leo asks where it is and Splinter says it is on the Forgotten Island. The sword will help him guide them, but they must be careful because there are dangerous forces at work.

The Turtles travel to the island in the Radical Roton and leap from the flying vehicle to the spire that stands at the center of the island. They use their weapons to help them climb to the wide top on the spire. At its center is a tree stump in which the Power Sword is stuck. However, when the Turtles reach the top, they are set upon by Mer-Man, who is blocking their way. The Turtles not only have to dodge the giant sword that Mer-Man wields, but also his tail, which drips with ooze. Raph manages to jump and strike Mer-Man’s chest, pushing him off balance, and Don quickly steps in to club him over the side of the spire.

Leo says that they need to hurry and grab the Power Sword, but he is interrupted by the appearance of Skeletor. The villain gloats that he has to give Krang credit for knowing the Turtles would lead him to the Sword of Power. Skeletor brings the mutated He-Man to the center of the spire and orders him to fetch the sword. He-Man leaps for the sword and so does Leonardo. The two touch the sword at the same moment and there is a loud explosion. He-Man and the Turtles vanish, leaving a distraught Skeletor to wonder where they went.

The Turtles find themselves back inside the Dwell of Souls. Leo and He-Man lay unconscious on the floor and April asks what happened. Don explains that they walked into an ambush and that Leo and He-Man grabbed the sword at the same time. Splinter moves over to the pair and places a hand on each of their chests. He evokes the power of Grayskull and both Leo and He-Man wake. Raph rushes to Leo and asks why he always does something so Leo. He-Man sits up and asks who they are.
