First appearing in The Cure for You, part 3 of the IDW continuity, the Market is a major underground marketplace and water port operating quasi-secretly beneath Mutant Town, Manhattan. It is located in a spacious subterranean vaulted chamber connected to an underground canal, and is connected to the surface world by at least one staircase as well as the canal itself. The chamber bustles with small street vendors and the everyday labor of couriers transporting goods by boat, virtually all of them mutants. The canal leads to other places beneath the city, including Foot Headquarters which is outside the Mutant Town wall. With Mutant Town under strict quarantine enforced by New York City Mayor Baxter Stockman and the Earth Protection Force, the Market and its connecting canal are an important route smugglers take to sneak through the neighborhood's quarantine. Though Jennika was not aware of the Market's existence, Silas tells her that everyone knows about it.
