The Doors of Deception is a backup story published in Tales of the TMNT volume 2 issue 25: Kung-Fu Theatre. It is the eighth and most recently published Professor Obligado story, after Altered Fates. The series ended on a cliffhanger.

Synopsis[]
Open with an Utrom archaeologist spraying himself with bug spray and cursing sand fleas. Before him is a giant stone tablet depicting an Utrom in the middle of the desert which the archaeologist has just unearthed.
Meanwhile, Professor Obligado finds himself in a dense forest of massive follicles and is attacked by gargantuan fleas. He tries evasive maneuvers, but they latch onto his ship. Suddenly, a cloud of gas descends upon the scene, instantly killing all the fleas. Obligado thinks this was a most fortuitous happenstance.
Unbeknownst to him, he’s actually in a shrunken state, navigating the tiny hairs on the tentacle of another Utrom – the Utrom archaeologist who has just used some aerosol bug-killer to eradicate the fleas.
Obligado is about to gather multi-versal coordinates in order to determine his location when he notices the giant stone carving. While he stops to inspect the tablet, the Utrom archaeologist spots the tiny ship. The archaeologist catches Obligado’s ship in a glass specimen jar and takes a closer look.
The Utrom archaeologist turns out to be… Professor Obligado! The two Professor Obligados stare at each other and simultaneously puff on their pipes, both exclaiming “By the stars…!”.

- Despite the “To be continued” notation at the bottom of the last page, this is the final chapter in the storyline. The Professor Obligado serial was never completed.
