Synopsis[]

Below the streets, in the sewer tunnels, the Turtles follow a trail of blood. They are tracking some kind of mutant, one they encountered earlier. During the fight, the mutant bit right through one of Michelangelo’s nunchaku. Donatello can not find the mutant in his files, but he is reading an active mutagenic agent in its hemoglobin. In other words, the thing bleeds mutagen.

Don’s brothers want to know if this means that anything in contact with the thing’s blood will mutate. As Don is musing about an extra isotope he’s reading in the blood, a sewer rat drinks some of the bloody water. Leonardo is concerned that they could have a mutant outbreak on their hands and then Mikey calls out a warning about an evil Master Splinter. That sewer rat, now the size of a small car, attacks. It slashes, hitting Don’s scanner and breaking it and then knocks Mikey aside. Leo and Raphael hit it at the same time and the rat runs away.

When Don tells them that it busted his scanner, Raph says they’ll just follow its trail. However, the trail isn’t necessary as the beast suddenly blasts by them, bowling them over and then continuing through the tunnel. The Turtles give chase, following as the beast ascends a very tall ladder. When they reach the top and enter a building, they immediately see a sign that reads “Stockman Labs”. The room they have entered is filled with cages which contain all manner of animal, reptile, bird and even insects.

Don states the obvious, that this is not a good place for a fight. Leo addresses the beast, saying that they are mutants like it and maybe they can help. The beast replies that they are not mutants like it and that it pities them because it has a purpose. A purpose, it says, given to it by its creators - - the Shredder and the Stockman. It says that it has one reason for being, one task, to lead them here. As it says this, the beast presses a button on the device attached to its chest. Leo yells for his brothers to bail and they leap down the ladder shaft. The creature shouts that it feels good to fulfill its purpose and then the device explodes.

The slightly stunned Turtles slowly rise to their feet in the tunnel below the lab. A rumbling sound causes them to look up and they see various creatures, now mutated, barreling down the ladder towards them. A wide-eyed Mikey mumbles “er…Cowabunga?” End
