Summary[]
The Turtles and Splinter are test driving their Turtle Van in a disused factory site. Raphael is at the wheel while in the seat behind him, Leonardo issues maneuvering instructions. Michaelangelo tells them to take it easy because he nearly lost his pickle-and-pepperoni pizza lunch, but Raphael responds that this is a flat-out Turtle Van test drive. Determined to fully test it, Raphael drives the van up a ramp and over a stack of old tires. As they land, Raphael checks on everyone in the back. Donatello assures him they are okay. He adds that the onboard sensors are picking up something near West 54th Street.
They hear screams and gunfire, so Leonardo asks for a visual. The monitor displays Shredder's mob robbing a bank. Rocksteady, Bebop and a group of Foot bots are fleeing the scene when the Turtles arrive. Activating their Turtle Launcher, the Turtles soar through the air and take out some Foot bots, but the other bank robbers flee.
The group chases Shredder’s mob and discovers them entering an art gallery. Splinter urges his sons to tread carefully as they continue their pursuit. Suddenly, Splinter stops them and points out a sculpture by Donatello, walls hung with paintings by Michaelangelo and Leonardo de Vinci. He tells them they are the world-famous renaissance artists that he named the Turtles after. Splinter says they should feast their eyes on the sheer genius of the work, but Leonardo says they’ll catch up on the art show later, they still have thieves to go after.
Entering another room, they find the bags of loot lying on the floor, but Bebop and Rocksteady have made a quick exit. When the Turtles go back to tell Splinter, they discover that there is no sign of him. Raphael suddenly shouts that a woman in a painting winked at him. Donatello informs him that duchesses in painting don’t wink, but Raphael is sure there’s some funny business going on.
He gets closer to the painting, which abruptly drops right on top of him, revealing a panel containing Krang. Another painting drops on Leonardo and Shredder steps out of hiding. Next to him, hiding behind another painting, is Bebop, with Splinter slung across his shoulders. Michaelangelo realizes that the bank raid was a truck to lure them into the art gallery. Shedder charges, stating that now that he has the rat, he’s going to keep him.
The Turtles dodge as Shredder slashes and he destroys one of the statues, then makes a run for it. As Shredder, Krang and Bebop race down a staircase, Leonardo throws his sword at the chain supporting an overhead chandelier. It crashes down on the stairs, causing Bebop to drop Splinter, who is flung clear.
Shredder and his gang continue their getaway while the Turtles are checking on Splinter. He is all right, but then discovers that all of the priceless works of art have been destroyed. Splinter is despondent, sure that his life will never be the same again, when Donatello finds that the sculpture was made of cheap plaster and matchwood. All of the paintings were also fakes, every one of them created by Shredder to capture Splinter through his love of art.
An excited Splinter exclaims that there might be a real renaissance room somewhere else in the building and urges the Turtles to follow him. However, the Turtles make a break for the exit, stating that art education can wait because it’s pizza time!
