Usage

This template calculates and embeds someone's age in number of years depending on the date of birth.

For example, the first issue of Eastman and Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was published on May 5, 1984. Using that date, given this template code:

{{age|m=5|d=5|y=1984}}

...the template displays:

35

In other words, it published 35 years ago, meaning that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is 35 years old. The template arguments can be arranged in any order, so that:

{{age|d=5|m=5|y=1984}}

...and:

{{age|y=1984|m=5|d=5}}

...mean exactly the same thing.

Here is how each argument of this template works:

Argument Description
y The birth year. Full year, which usually means a four-digit number.
m The birth month. This should be a number no less than 1 and no greater than 12, representing the months from January to December.
d The birth day-of-the-month. This should be a number no less than 1 and no greater than 31 (or 30, 29 or 28, depending on the actual days in a month).
Y Optional. The year of a second date to measure the birthdate against. If this argument is not used, the current year (2019) will be used.
M Optional. The month of a second date to measure the birthdate against. If this argument is not used, the current month (11 = November) will be used.
D Optional. The day-of-the-month of a second date to measure the birthdate against. If this argument is not used, the current day-of-the-month (21) will be used.
