Idw - teleporter

In the IDW continuity, a teleporter or teleportation unit is technology common in Dimension X, used to teleport people or objects instantaneously across distances. It is roughly equivalent to the transmat technology of the Mirage and 2003 TV series continuities. There are two modes of teleportation: Interspatial teleportation transports matter between two points of space within the same dimension. Interdimensional teleportation transports across different dimensional boundaries, such as between Dimension X and the different Earth dimensions of both the Turtles' Earth and the Ghostbusters' Earth. Teleportation is typically accomplished using portals, such as the interdimensional portals frequently used by Krang between Dimension X and his Earth base on Burnow Island.

With schematics and language primers provided by Neutrino scientist Professor Zayton Honeycutt, a Dimension X native, Donatello joined forces with human colleague Harold Lillja to build an interspatial teleportation unit in Harold Lillja's laboratory to make it possible to teleport to Burnow Island and mount a defense against Krang's Technodrome project which had threatened to wipe out all life on Earth by terraforming it into a New Utrominon for Krang's Utrom race. The unit was only specifically designed for interspatial teleportation and not for interdimensional teleportation, as both New York City and Burnow Island were different locations within the same Earth's dimension.

In the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters miniseries, a human-error-caused glitch during a teleportation test sent the Turtles along with Casey Jones and April O'Neil to the parallel Earth which was home of the Ghostbusters, showing that the interspatial teleportation unit's technology was also capable of creating interdimensional portals. Fortunately, Donatello still had a copy of the blueprints on him. During the story, after the Turtles and the Ghostbusters met and became allies, Egon Spengler and Ray Stantz hastily helped Donatello and April build a second interspatial teleportation unit in the basement of the Ghostbusters' Firehouse. The Ghostbusters kept this unit after the Turtles left, and the Turtles returned through it in the later Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters 2 miniseries.
