Having guarded April O’Neil on her journey home from the Hidden Leaf Village, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Team 7 are ready to relax, pick up some dinner, and call it another successful mission. The bright city lights of Big Apple Village cast dark shadows, though, and when they return to the Turtles’ lair, it’s been ransacked. April and Splinter are gone, and there’s only one person who could be responsible. Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke, and Kakashi must help save both their missing comrades and April’s sample of mutagenic ooze before it’s too late, or Shredder’s single-minded pursuit of power won’t just threaten one village, but them all.

Synopsis[]

Standing on a rooftop in Big Apple Village, the Turtles and Team 7 survey the skyline. Naruto finds the village to be amazing. Leonardo and Donatello start to rhyme and then Michelangelo breaks into song. Raphael facepalms and Sakura begins to giggle, so Mikey stops and says he thought they were doing ninja rap. Raph tells him to leave the rapping to the pros and then calls out for the Hidden Leaf ninja to follow them. Mikey adds for them to remember the thing he taught them. As everyone leaps, Team 7 calls out “Cowabunga”. On the way down, Sasuke asks about dinner and Raph appreciates that he got straight to the point. Kakashi tells them they appreciated the detour, as those were impressive views. As they leap to another rooftop, Leo says Big Apple Village is beautiful at a distance… but there’s rot at the core. They have stopped to look down at the street below, seeing several Foot Ninja terrorizing citizens.

As the Turtles leap to the street below, Mikey calls out for Team 7 to wait where they are, because they’ll only be a second. Naruto says he feels lazy, like they should be helping. As Foot Ninja go flying, Sasuke guesses they don’t need to get involved. Kakashi agrees that the Turtles have this under control. When all of the Foot Ninja have been knocked out, Mikey calls the all clear and Team 7 jumps down to join them. The group strolls into a pizza parlor and Naruto expresses the hope that “pizza” costs the same as ramen because he wants to treat their hosts. Team 7 quickly finds that pizza smells very good and watch as the owner stacks pizza boxes in Leo’s hands. As they leave, Sasuke is amazed that they were given all that food just for fighting crime. Raph says that they usually have it delivered through a storm drain. Don lifts the cover from a manhole and apologizes for having to take the low road home as they are drawing too much attention from their adoring public. Naruto says he doesn’t mind because their lair is secret for a reason.

Meanwhile, at Foot Clan Castle, a gloating Shredder is holding Splinter and April O’Neil hostage. He brags that he must commend his feeble mutant fox Alopex for finding them and Stockman’s scroll. Though she’s not the demon in a Foot Clan fight that he’d hoped for, she’s proven she’s not a complete waste of ooze. Splinter berates him for ruling by fear with stolen power and then daring to disparage an innocent child. He calls Saki a disgrace. Before Shredder can react, April stops him by asking if he kidnapped them to use her to decipher Stockman’s scroll or to lure the Turtles into a trap. She says Shredder can’t get rid of them because he hasn’t done either yet.

Shredder commends her speechcraft and admits that he’s using them as Turtle bait. As for Stockman’s scroll, which April says is the last copy of the ooze research, Shredder tears the it apart. Inside is the final vial of ooze that Stockman hid. April believes that she’s doomed Big Apple Village by bringing it back. Shredder tells her that Stockman was nothing more than an ooze-brewing bug and she is a mere mule. Shredder states that he never wanted to proliferate this ooze because that would be chaos. He merely wants to test its true efficacy, its true power, for one worthy final recipient.

The Turtles and Team 7 have finally reached the lair and Michelangelo calls out that he hopes everybody is still hungry. Then everyone freezes in shock as they discover that the lair is in shambles and that Splinter and April have been taken. Naruto thinks it is Team 7’s fault, because if the Turtles had been home, they would have stopped this. Leo disagrees, saying that Sasuke was right earlier. They couldn’t hide from Saki forever. Only one thing has changed. Raph says that now there’s nowhere he can hide from them.

Back at Foot Castle, four Foot Enforcers prostrate themselves in front of Shredder. He says he summoned them for their superior strength, survival instincts and total loyalty. They are worthy of anointed ascension as they have passed every trial. Only this final test remains, he says, as he pours a bit of mutagen on their heads. He tells them to consider themselves honored. They cry out as they begin to transform and a shocked Alopex asks if this is what it is to be a mutant – to be a monster. Splinter answers that it absolutely is not. He says there is much they do not get to decide in life, but their mutations gave them some choice in deciding their futures. He asks what hers will be now.

Shredder orders his now transformed Foot Enforcers to rise so that they may fulfill his first command. He orders them to cleanse Foot Clan Castle of its vermin, including Alopex in this directive. She cries out that she’s done everything he asked. Before the Foot Enforcers can attack, the Turtles and Team 7 crash into the building, arriving sooner than Shredder had anticipated. He tells them they presume too much and to prepare to fall before the Foot Clan’s newly mutated might. Shredder orders the Foot Enforcers to show no mercy.

Sakura and Raph face off against a giant red-colored Enforcer. Sakura notes that this is what happens when humans are exposed to the ooze and that Lady Tsunade was right to be worried. Raph says it makes ugly uglier. Sakura leaps as the Enforcer tries to hit her and then calls for Raph to watch out. He dodges a blow but then realizes the Enforcer is fast. It gets behind him, but just as it’s about to grab Raph, Sakura grabs him by his belt and pulls him out of the way. She apologizes for the awkward save, but Raph replies that he’ll take it over becoming turtle soup. Raph has an idea and says he knows she has the arm for it. Sakura guesses that he wants her to throw him and Raph says to call it launch. Aiming for the Enforcer’s vitals, Sakura shouts “Cherry Blossom Shell Smash!” and throws Raph right into the Enforcer’s head. The Enforcer goes down and Raph calls out that he loves being a turtle.

On another side of the room, Leo and Kakashi are battling an orange colored Enforcer covered in spikes. Using his katana, Leo blocks various blows, noting that it’s throwing everything at them. Kakashi agrees that it’s strong, but they both know bladework takes brains and mutating didn’t boost this thing’s intellect. Kakashi throws a kunai at it, but the blade bounces off the Enforcer, leading Leo to comment on its durability. Leo asks if Kakashi is ready to use his wild eye to counter its attacks, but Kakashi has something flashier in mind. He asks Leo to buy him a second and the Turtle says he’ll make it two. As Kakashi powers up for a lightning release, Leo keeps the Enforcer busy. Then Kakashi asks Leo to follow his lead and together they strike, Leo cleaving into the Enforcer with his blade as Kakashi turns it into a “lightning katana”. The Enforcer falls into numerous pieces and the pair of successful combatants’ bump fists.

Elsewhere, Don and Sasuke are taking on a blue colored Enforcer who is all pointed spikes with Tekkō-kagi growing from the backs of his hands. Don says this one would be cute if it weren’t so stabby. Sasuke states that he’ll handle this as his sharingan can predict its every move. Don counters that while that’s a powerful genetic gift, he can do the same thing with his brain. Finding that the Enforcer is quite durable, Sasuke says that knowing what it will do is one thing, but… Don realizes they are thinking the same thing and says he’s calculated a solid finishing move. He says for Sasuke to follow him and the pair bound upwards along the wall. Don asks if Sasuke is picking up on the same weak spot as him. Sasuke says back of the head and one hit should do it. Together they strike with a “sharingan staff” move, driving the Enforcer into the floor and finishing it.

The final purple colored Enforcer proves to be very resilient. Naruto calls out that he can’t land a hit and the Enforcer is like dough. Mikey bounces a nunchaku off the Enforcer’s skull and agrees, but then has an idea. He says pizza places deal with dough with a spin and a pound. Naruto sees where this idea is going and says he has just the combo in mind. Mikey says to take it for a spin and Naruto adds they’ll pound it back into shape. Together they attack, striking the Enforcer’s mid-section together and shouting “U-Zu-Mikey-Angelo barrage!”

Team 7 and the Turtles then regroup in front of Shredder and Leo tells him to face the fact that he’s lost. However, Shredder replies that he knows nothing of loss, but they soon will. He begins drinking the last of the mutagen and starts transforming in front of their eyes. Everyone watches in shock as spikes and winglike appendages sprout from his body and a green sharingen looking eye forms on his chest. Shredder announces that this is true power… his true power. As he rises into the air, he shouts that this is the power of the Shredder!

To be concluded!
