Synopsis[]

Months ago on Burnow Island, Zom pays a visit to Dr. Zura to address some off-and-on illnesses she's been feeling. As the test results are being processed, she meets with Ma'riell and Ch'rell. Ch'rell pitches that since newborn Utroms require a host body for incubation, that they use the fallen Triceratons that have been in stasis for months awaiting cremation. Zom angrily decries that this cannot happen. Ma'riell agrees, citing necessity to respect one another's cultures. Ch'rell angrily balks at his sister's support of the Triceratons, and also her idea of dismantling the Technodrome to repurpose the technology for cloning the Triceratons and intubation of Utrom's young. Zom begins to feel dizzy and says she needs to sit down; Dr. Zura suddenly rushes in and tells Zom the results of her tests - she's pregnant.

Back in the present at the Splinter Dōjō, Mona Lisa, April, and Pepperoni watch the news, in which Baxter declares that supply drops will cease in Mutant Town as a response to the civil unrest occurring there, and also that the E.P.F will be increasing their presence within the zone and enacting martial law. Mona and April are disappointed in the news, with April disappointed that she got her hopes up that Baxter would at least send in some snowplows. Mona jinxes their luck by wondering if they'll ever catch a break.

Leonardo introduces the rest of the class to Carmen as she starts her first training day. Carmen recognizes Jennika's name as that of the girlfriend of Sheena and former girlfriend of Casey. Jennika demands to know what the heck Casey's been spouting about her and also how Carmen knows Sheena - to which she is interrupted before she can answer. She then asks where the sixth sensei is. Leo says Raphael is busy with "constable" duties. Casey slips out as training begins, and Jennika wonders where Sheena is.

Sheena approaches Dr. Barlow Mutant Cosmetic Surgery Services and is greeted by Dr. Jasper Barlow himself, as well as his assistants D.B. and Chuck. Sheena has come to him for a hair graft consultation, and between just being nervous about the potential operation and the bizarre appearance of Barlow and his buddies, she seems unsure of her visit.

Meanwhile, Casey takes out his frustration on the environment and breaks a baseball bat. He suddenly encounters a group of mutant frogs, who are surprised to see a human. They ask him if the nearby building is where the turtles are, and when Casey refuses a straight answer, they cite one of their own, Bonnie, having been kidnapped by a turtle, and a brawl ensues. Casey calls for help, and the Frogs deduce that they have found the right place.

The Frogs enter the dōjō and begin making accusations, with Clyde saying that the "one with the weird shell" took Bonnie. Donnie obviously denies that it was him, and Leo and Mikey try to reason with the Frogs and offer to help find Bonnie. The Frogs produce a molotov cocktail and the Splinter Clan attacks in an effort to keep the bomb from doing damage. They fail and a fire starts, and the Frogs begin overpowering the Splinter Clan, including stabbing Mikey hard in the carapace. Casey, having recovered enough from his fight to return, joins the brawl but the fire gets too bad to continue. Casey inhales too much smoke and passes out, with Jennika helping him outside. The Splinter Clan escapes and watches their home go up in flames.

Back on Burnow Island, Zom's egg hatches a newborn Triceraton - the first non-clone to be born since Zog. Ch'rell doesn't take this well, likening the last time the Triceratons outnumbered the Utroms to their uprising and the genesis of their war. Montuoro and Kleve don't take it to the extreme that he does, with the latter stating that it's just one child, but Ch'rell is convinced that it's a harbinger of more.

Zom names her daughter Seri.

Trivia[]

  • Mateus Santolouco's Retailer Incentive cover initially featured all six adult Turtles, but found out afterward that Big Lita was no longer around at this time. Despite many covers - especially most alternate covers - often featuring characters and events unrelated to the interiors, Santolouco opted to replace her with Alopex.
  • Zura was the name of a Triceraton character initially developed by Sophie Campbell for a Tales of the TMNT Vol. 2 issue that never made it past initial development.
