Synopsis

One month prior to the events of TMNT #117 (and the bulk of this issue), when a time-traveling Lita stepped out of a time portal and onto the O'Neil Farm, she was greeted by her "Uncle Saki", who apparently knows who she is and of her quest. He tells her that he's been looking after the Hamato Family since his return, but he doesn't know how to approach them without being seen as their enemy. Lita tells him to just keep doing as he is, as what he's doing is still very important, and he thanks her.

Back in the present, Donatello pauses his writing to refresh his tea mug, and as soon as he steps out, Zink bounces Mushroom and knocks Zanna's drink toward Don's laptop. Saki breezes in and moves the computer before it can be damaged.

On the rooftop of Splinter Dōjō, a support beam to Leonardo's greenhouse cracks, and Saki shoves a wedge of wood in place to reinforce it, unseen by Leo.

In her room, Jennika struggles to get a riff the way she wants on her guitar. Saki ghosts through the wall and sings the right note she needs.

Saki watches Michelangelo and Sally talk about the rally to protest against the Mutanimals. He takes a radio and places it on the desk of reporter Lola Cruz, tuning it to Mikey's radio broadcast and giving her the swift kick she needed to jumpstart her Mutant Town story.

Meanwhile, at Baxter Stockman's mayoral office, April, after scarfing a doughnut, witnesses a bunch of The Slithery's eggs being loaded into a Null Group van. April barges into Baxter's office and yells at him for his actions and threatens to go to the media. He retaliates with telling her the media would probably also love to know her complicty in his schemes. Zara, Stockman's associate who was overseeing the egg transportation, sics some mutant eels, undoubtedly The Slithery's offspring, on April. April maces Zara and the eels and then Stockman and hightails it out. Zara gives chase and the two fight, but April escapes into the sewers and tries calling the Splinter Clan. She is assaulted and greviously injured by more mutant eels, but before they can do more damage, Saki arrives and fights them off.

Back at the dōjō, Raphael and Alopex are too busy training the weasels and Lita to notice the cell phone buzzing, although Pepperoni sees it and tries to get their attention. Al teases Raph about how he's "domesticated" now and they discuss their apparent future as hinted to them by Big Lita. April suddenly drags herself in and tells them Baxter's to blame.

Stockman tells the new director of the Earth Protection Force, Braunze, that April is highly mutagenically contagious and has Zara send them a photo and data of April, instructing that she needs to be kept within Mutant Town and to "do what must be done" to "protect" the rest of New York City if she escapes.

Trivia

  • April trying to escape Stockman hunting her through the sewers, is a nod to a similar scene back in Mirage TMNT volume 1, issue #2.
