Story So Far[]

The TMNT know that they are being spied on by the Mutanimals and look to send a message back to Old Hob!

Summary[]

On a dark evening, Sally walks along the mostly deserted streets of Mutant Town. She passes a trio of mutants seated on the steps to an apartment building, and their playful and friendly interactions make her feel sad.

At the Splinter Dōjō, Leonardo is in conference with the other Turtles. Raphael says that there’s no way he’s letting Hob’s spies waltz in, but Leo counters that’s exactly what they should do. Then they put their countermeasure tactics to use. He says it will send a more powerful message to Hob not to intrude in their home. Raph grudgingly agrees and Leo says they need to get to it. They need caltrops, trip wires, Fukiya, nets… and Donatello says he’ll mix up some Metsubishi, while Michelangelo goes to search for the sleeping powder he thinks is in the storeroom. None of them get far as just then the doorbell rings. Mikey thinks it’s the spies, but Raph says they aren’t going to ring the doorbell.

Raph goes to the door and cautiously opens it to find Sally standing there. He blocks the entry and greets her before explaining that they are busy setting traps for some Mutanimal spies. Sally wants to help, but Raph tells her it’s all ninja stealth technique stuff, though they might need help later after they’ve captured the spies. Looking disheartened, Sally turns to leave, saying she’ll get out of their way. Raph promises to update her on the situation the next day and she wishes him good luck. He closes the door and Leo tells him that he did a great job handling that.

Then they set to work. Leo sets trip wires and netting, Don pours a blinding powder mixture into hollowed out eggs, Mikey loads sleeping powder into bamboo tubes, and Jennika tosses caltrops onto the floor. Raph and Alopex choose hiding spots for themselves, while Mikey and Jenny find a place for the weasels, Lita, Pepperoni and Klunk to hide. Then the lights are turned off and the Turtles and Alopex settle down to wait.

Stone and Night creep through the hallways of the dōjō. Laying in wait, the Turtles and Alopex watch them. Night wonders where everyone is before the pair separate. Walking down a hallway, Stone doesn’t see the trip wire strung there and trips on it, falling forward onto his hands. Leo and Don leap out of the cubby hole they were hiding in to grab him and Don tosses the blinding powder in his eyes. They drag him into the cubby hole and an enraged Raph pounces on him, catching Stone in a strangle hold before pummeling the side of his face. Leo quickly stops him and then Don blows sleeping powder into Stone’s face, knocking him out.

Using his communication earpiece, Night tries to reach Stone, informing him that she’s upstairs and wanting to know what he found in the cellar. She is watched from hiding by Mikey, Jenny and Alopex. Night goes into one of the rooms to check it and Zanna can’t resist lifting the floorboard hatch to peek out. Mushroom pulls her back, but the hatch makes a sound when it drops back into place, drawing Night over. She squats to find the edges of the hatch before lifting it to reveal the children.

Night tries to communicate again with Stone to let him know what she found. Mikey quickly climbs out of hiding and attacks, shouting for Night to leave the kids alone. He strikes her with his nunchaku and then kicks her back into the hallway, where she steps on the makibishi. Mikey hits her again which his nunchucks as Alopex and Jennika help the little ones out of the hiding spot and then Jenny sends them off with Alopex. Jenny sees Night draw a gun and quickly leaps to kick her in the stomach. Mikey grabs a night and as he flings it, Night fires, the bullet cutting a trench across Mikey’s bicep. The net lands on Night and Jenny throws her to the ground. Then Mikey uses a blowgun full of sleeping powder, blowing it into Night’s face. It doesn’t work right away, as Night pulls a knife and starts to cut the net, but then she finally falls unconscious. Jenny asks if Mikey is okay and he answers in the affirmative. The kids appear and Lita says she protected Klunk. They all rush over to Mikey and embrace him, causing Jenny to tease that he’s their hero. Mikey returns the hugs.

Cut to the Mighty Mutanimals Headquarters. Old Hob is pacing, concerned that he hasn’t heard back from his spies. Man Ray says there’s been no radio contact and then spots something through the window. He tells Hob that his spies are there and when Hob looks out, he sees Stone and Night trussed up with ropes and hanging from a light post.

Meanwhile, in her apartment, Mona Lisa sits on her couch with her cell phone in hand. She tries to calm herself, preparing to make a phone call to her parents. Mona finally calls and gets hold of her Mom, explaining that up till then she hasn’t been able to call, but a friend helped her with phone and internet services. When asked, she assures her mother that she’s fine and she’s safe. Mona then asks if they can do a video call because she was mutated and wants her parents to see her. They have heard the news that it’s some disease, but Mona explains it’s more like a total cellular reconfiguration. She finally gets them on a video call and both gasp upon seeing her. As Mona begins to explain that she’s a mutant salamander, her parents hang up on her. Mona stares at the phone for a moment and then starts to cry before flinging the phone against the wall. She is still crying when there’s a knock at the door and Sally announces herself. Mona opens the door and then flings herself at Sally, which surprises her. Recognizing that Mona is heartbroken about something, Sally returns her embrace.

Shift to Foot Clan Headquarters. Oroku Karai is seated at her desk, addressing Koya, who is standing across from her. Karai critiques Koya’s past performance, especially her botched attempt at acquiring the weasels. Koya tells her that it was boring and then begins to rail about being assigned menial labor and that Bludgeon is too. Koya shouts that she and Bludgeon are killing machines, but Karai has them delivering packages and babysitting. Karai indicates Bludgeon, who is in the hallway sweeping the floor, and says that he seems perfectly content. Koya blows that off, still raging that Karai is phasing them out and replacing them with new mutants. She wants to know why Karai refuses to use them to their full, untapped potential. Karai stands and tells Koya that due to her handling of the acquisition, she must go personally meet with Hob. As Karai leaves, she says that she’ll take Koya’s concerns under consideration. Koya is more than a little angry at this.

Later, Karai and Hob walk together through the Mutanimals headquarters building. Hob offers to provide her with something other than mutants, like perhaps some Triceraton's weaponry or their intel about the Null Group. Karai tells him he has nothing else of real value, nothing that she couldn’t obtain on her own. She then adds that if Hob doesn’t uphold his end of the contract, the Foot will be forced to resort to extreme measures. A bit unnerved, Hob asks what she wants, because the weasels are long gone. Karai stops at a set of double doors bearing warning signs and says she has something in mind. She pushes open the door, telling Hob that to make up for the loss of the weasels… She stops before a huge cage containing a pair of very large mutants and says that she wants the wolf and the snapping turtle for her new initiates.
