Summary[]

Open in the Splinter Dōjō just as class has been dismissed. Jennika tells Leonardo that Lita didn’t show for class. She wants to think she’s just pouting but… Leo fills in the pause by saying that Felix and other kids are missing too and something’s definitely not right. Leo wonders if it’s Hob looking to make more child soldiers and Jenny says it could be, since he was convinced of his own righteousness. Going into the next room where the other Turtles are hanging out, Leo tells them that tonight they’ll search for the kids and any clues on what’s happening. Michelangelo begins pacing around, saying they’ll be like detectives and he wants to be Sherlock Holmes. Leo scolds him that the situation is serious and Mikey tells him humor is his coping mechanism.

That night the Turtles are on patrol and Raphael asks what they are looking for. Leo tells him he’s not sure – places where kids can hide or be hidden. Raph replies that’s the whole town. They begin their search, separating to check alleys, areaways and old buildings. Mikey spots a glow coming from an areaway and calls out to the others. The group discovers that it’s a trio of M.O.U.S.E.R.s. The robots start to run and Raph immediately smashes one of them. Donatello stops the group from destroying the others, saying they need to follow and see where the M.O.U.S.E.R.s lead them.

Cut to April O'Neil working in her office at New York City Hall. Her cell phone rings, the caller id indicating it’s Donnie. She answers, but before she can get out more than a couple of words, he interrupts, an urgent sound to his voice. Alarmed, April asks what’s going on and he tells her it’s Mousers in Mutant Town. He tells her they are following them and wants to know what Stockman is up to. April starts to curse and pinches her nasal bridge. She tells Don she hasn’t seen anything, but that’s she’s not surprised. April adds that Stockman did make some weird comments about mutant contributions to science, and says she guesses it was only a matter of time before being Mayor wasn’t enough; that he had to put on his evil scientist hat again. She promises Don that she’ll see what she can find out and he urges her to be careful. He returns the sentiment.

The group continue to follow the Mousers and watch as they dash into a sewer grate, which is too small for the Turtles. Mikey spots a manhole cover and removes it to enter the sewers. He jokes to Raph that it’s just like old times and his brother replies “great” in a sarcastic manner.

Back at the Splinter dōjō, the weasels are being their usual rambunctious selves. Zanna and Zink are bothering Klunk, but Mushroom is cuddling with Mona Lisa. Alopex grouses about getting stuck babysitting again and Mona Lisa says it’s not so bad. Alopex pushes the weasels away from Klunk and tells her friend that’s easy for her to say since she got the nice one. Mona says she grew up with four brothers and that being surrounded by a little chaos is her normal happy place. Alopex asks if the brothers are in Mutant Town too, and Mona looks a little sad as she responds that they are not. She hasn’t seen her family since the mutation happened. Mushroom then says she misses Lita. Mona tells her not to worry, that the Turtles are sure to find her.

Switch to Lita, as she awakens and finds herself surrounded by junk. She looks up and sees a metal grate far overhead. Out loud she comments that there was supposed to be cages. The sound of her voice draws Felix over and she recognizes him. He asks how she knows him and Lita says it’s because his mom came to the dōjō to ask for help in finding him. Suddenly, several other mutant children come over, impressed that Lita’s friends with the Splinter clan. Lita brags that she lives there and they’re teaching her to be a ninja. She tells the kids she’s going to get them out of the pit. The mutant salamander asks Lita to show them her ninja moves, but Lita tells them it’s not just about fighting, it’s about tactics.

Lita says they have to use what’s around them. The children quickly stack the junk in the pit and climb up, balancing on each other’s shoulders as they try to reach the top of the pit. The junk tower doesn’t hold and sends them all crashing to the floor. They try again, with the same results. Lita then looks over and sees a pair of Mousers standing off to the side. She asks if those things can get out and Felix tells her they can climb right up the walls. Lita suggests that they ride them and the kids chase the Mousers, with Lita managing to jump on one as it starts up the wall. Unfortunately, she can’t hang on and falls. All of the children slump over, dejected, and Lita starts to cry, lamenting that she can’t do it.

Back to the Turtles. Leonardo illuminates the way with his flashlight. They soon see a large splotch of green slime plastered across a wall. Jenny equates the slime to The Slithery, looking over at Leo as she says the name out loud. At Mikey’s question, Leo explains the story that Lita had told them about a sea monster living in the sewers. Leo then poses the thought that the story is true, only it’s not a monster, it’s a mutant. They continue on and then Raph stops the group because he’s heard something. Turning, they see a number of Mousers standing atop a partially built brick wall.

The Mousers all shriek, which catches the attention of The Slithery who is somewhere in the sewer system. After making the loud noise, the Mousers attack. As the Turtles begin smashing them, they reminisce that this is like old times, and Raph adds that he’s feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Jenny calls the guys weird. Soon the Mousers have all been destroyed and Leo shines his light on the wall, wondering why they were building it. The Turtles climb over into the ankle deep water of a cavern whose walls are covered in slime. Swimming through the water are a multitude of mutated marine life. Don says that the effects of Hob’s bomb were more far-reaching than they realized. It’s not much of a stretch to assume it could have made an eel monster, which prompts Mikey to exclaim that The Slithery is real. Jenny then poses a question; if it’s real and not a mutant like them, does that make it more or less dangerous. Don can’t answer that question, but says that if it’s down there, then chances are the kids are too.

Leo says they need to find them now and they start back over the wall. When Don pauses in thought, Leo asks what he’s thinking. Don wonders if the Mousers were building the wall to keep the creature out, because altruism isn’t really Stockman’s thing. Leo agrees. Meanwhile, the other three have moved on, and Jenny wants to show if they should be splitting up like this. Mikey adds his two cents by referring to horror movies. Raph snaps that they’re not splitting up, the others will catch up in a minute, and this isn’t a movie. A tail whips out of the darkness, wraps around Mikey’s upper body and yanks him away. The other two haven’t noticed, and Jenny asks Raph if he’s second in command, but before she can finish the rest of the sentence, slime drips on her head and she turns to look up. She is grabbed and hauled upwards.

Her scream turns Raph, who shouts for Jenny and Mikey both. Leo and Don arrive, wanting to know what’s happening and Raph says he doesn’t know, he heard Jenny yell and when he turned they were both gone. Leo demands to know why Raph split them up, scolding that he can’t go lone wolf anymore. Raph says he wasn’t trying to and he thought they were right behind them. The trio moves on, weapons at the ready. Behind them, The Slithery rises up in the water and strikes, wrapping its body around Don and pulling him under the water. Raph and Leo spin around, but Don is gone. Raph curses, but Leo tells him they’ll get them back and to keep moving. The reach a tunnel branch and pause so that Leo can peek around the corner. He sees that it’s all clear, but when he turns, Raph is gone. Angered, he calls out for the creature to come and get him – which it does.

At City Hall, April is heading down to the basement, reasoning that’s where bad stuff always happens in the moves. She descends the stairs and spots an open door, with light spilling out of the room beyond. Moving up to the door, she looks inside and is shocked at what she sees. Seated at a desk with monitors all around it, is Baxter Stockman. The largest of the monitors shows The Slithery dragging an unconscious Leonardo along the sewer walkway.
