Splinter loves to wander alone in the underground tunnels. The people who live on the surface could not imagine that there is an entire world beneath their feet. He could easily spend weeks exploring and thinks that with a bit of luck, he might even locate the Tecnodromo. Little does he know, but a spy camera operated by Shredder has spotted him. Shredder is amused to think that Splinter having bad luck means he’s the one who has been located.

Shortly, a hand reaches towards Splinter, but a nearby rat squeaks a warning. Splinter swings his walking stick and smashes the Ninja del clan del piede trying to grab him. As he dodges two more, he wonders how they found him. Though he puts up a good fight, Splinter is soon overwhelmed by sheer numbers and bound. Shredder appears to gloat over his capture, though Splinter is not happy to see him.

Before Shredder can make a move, Krang shouts for him to stop. He asks if Shredder means to liquidate Splinter. Shredder answers that of course he does, what did he expect, that he was going to congratulate him? Krang counters by asking how Shredder can be so stupid. They must be kind to such a precious possible ally. Splinter mutters that he must be deluded. Krang tells him to wait before he refuses, as he has an offer. If Splinter joins them and delivers his four students, then Krang will make him human again. Splinter lowers his head and accepts.

Back at the lair, April O'Neil is visiting the Turtles and telling them about her boss when Splinter returns. Michelangelo tells him that he’s in time for pizza, but Splinter says this is no time to eat, they must follow him now. When Michelangelo asks where they are going, Splinter replies that he can’t tell them. Michelangelo says that’s okay, the Turtles are ready. To April, such a secret mission sounds like an opportunity for a story, but Splinter tells her she is not coming. April argues that she always accompanies them, but Splinter tells her that this time is different and she has to stay behind.

Not one to be chased off a story, April follows, but laments the fact that she can’t get close enough to hear what they are saying. Meanwhile, farther along in the tunnels, Krang is worried about Splinter being late. He wonders if the rat tricked them and Shredder says that if so, it’s his fault. Splinter arrives and tells the pair to calm down because he always keeps his word. Krang is pleased at his loyalty. Shredder thinks they are dumb, but Krang notes that they are behaving so well. Splinter explains that he hypnotized the Turtles, otherwise they would have attacked.

April has drawn close enough to overhear this and can’t believe that Splinter is a traitor. Krang chortles that his devices will turn the Turtles back into harmless little animals. April begins trying to think of a way to save the boys and suddenly thinks she’s got one. Splinter guesses that the Tecnodromo must be close and Krang gestures behind him, answering that it’s parked back there. This is all Splinter needs to hear as he strikes Krang with his walking stick and calls to the Turtles to attack.

The Turtles draw their weapons and Donatello says it’s about time, because he was getting stiff. Shredder exclaims that he thought they were hypnotized and Leonardo teases of course they were, by the charms of his beautiful eyes. Krang shouts that Splinter will remain a rat forever. Splinter replies that he’s used to it by now and the important thing was not to miss the opportunity for this fight. Suddenly, there is a loud rumble and the cave begins to collapse. Leonardo calls out that the landslide is separating them from their enemies, but Splinter says not to worry about them, just watch his head instead. Shredder is happy about the timing as he and Krang flee the scene.

April runs towards the group, happy that this time, she was the one saving them. Donatello asks if she was the one who caused the earthquake and Raffaello says that they were about to defeat him once and for all. When she asks if that means they weren’t in danger, Donatello explains that the double-cross was in reality a triple game. April groans at having ruined everything, but Splinter consoles her by saying that she has shown her affection for them. He then quotes a Japanese proverb: “A true friendship is worth a thousand victories.”
