Don spin

The Tech- was Donatello's main weapon in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Overview[]

At some point prior to the start of the series, Donatello replaced his traditional bō with one of his own creation; a bō augmented with technology, capable of reconstructing itself into different forms at its wielder's whim. The Tech-Bō is constructed from high-grade titanium[1][2] as opposed to traditional wood, the silver head of which features a point surrounded by two pairs of prongs to pierce opponents. The Tech-Bō is telescoping, able to compress its head and retract its length to be only inches long, allowing it to be stored on the Battle Shells. The Tech-Bō requires its battery to be charged for operation. The Turtle Tank's shopping cart protocol can be initiated remotely via a button on the shaft of the Tech-Bō. The Tech-Bō can emit lasers, whether in a large wave activated via a button on its shaft ("Mascot Melee"), or from the head of the Tech-Bō ("Donnie vs. Witch Town"). The Tech-Bō can also store April O'Neil's mystic baseball bat within its shaft ("Battle Nexus: New York"). The Tech-Bō's wholly mutable nature grants its wielder great flexibility in combat and instant access to a vast array of tools to address problems.

The Tech-Bō's forms[]

The Tech-Bō is said to be equipped with hundreds forms which can be activated in various ways, such as twisting the shaft of the Tech-Bō or pressing a corresponding button.

  • Grappling hook
  • Dual rockets: This form has two different sizes: a standard size as seen in "Mystic Mayhem"; and a giant size as seen in "End Game".
  • Selfie stick
  • Engine-propelled fist mallet

  • Giant drill head

  • Multi-tool: In this form, the bō's head transforms and extends, employing a blow torch, a pair of pliers, a chainsaw, a drill, and a circular saw.
  • Shredder: This form was recently added to his bō as seen in "Sparring Partner" to combat the Foot Lieutenant's Origami Ninja.
  • Concrete mixer

History[]

The Tech-Bō debuted in "Mystic Mayhem". Donnie transformed it into a grappling hook to attach to a building situated two buildings away from Molina Tower which he and his brothers were perched on. The Turtles used the line of the Tech-Bō grappling hook to zipline into a rooftop pool for fun. Later to combat the Guardsmen, Donnie transformed the Tech-Bō into dual rockets, however, its trajectory upon being thrown was derailed, rendering it useless. Donnie fought against Baron Draxum with the Tech-Bō and was able to strike him by transforming it into an engine-propelled fist mallet. His following prepared strike was ruined once Donnie was accidentally knocked out of the air by Michelangelo.

The Tech-Bō was crushed in "Finale Part 2: Shreddy or Not", after Donnie used it to prop up crumbling debris from the lair above his brothers and himself so they could escape the lair atrium and flee to the Turtle Tank garage to evade the Shredder.

Trivia[]

  • Donnie chooses to continue wielding the Tech-Bō rather than the mystic halberd that was found by Raph and offered to him by April in "Mystic Mayhem", as it is an invention for which he has a great affection.
    • Moreover, Donnie harbors a large amount of disdain towards mystic powers, and believes science to be superior.
  • The Tech-Bō does not have nose plugs; a feature Donnie planned to add after the events of "How to Make Enemies and Bend People to Your Will".
