The Krang are a squid-like alien race, who brought the Empyrean to Earth and mutated the yōkai of what is now the Hidden City. They were also responsible for giving Oroku Saki his armor, the Kuroi Yōroi. The skeletal remains of one of them rests inside the Crying Titan in the Hidden City. The Krang also once operated a techno-organic spaceship known as the Technodrome before it was destroyed in their second attempt at conquering Earth. They are the main antagonists of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie.

Appearance[]

They are pink, bulbous creatures with six tentacles (three on each side of their bodies). Two are shown in different sizes: One much larger than a person, and one roughly the size of a traditional Utrom from other series. Their skull have nostrils and sharp teeth.

History[]

They came to the Earth about a thousand years ago and gave Oroku Saki the Kuroi Yōroi. Centuries later, the Shredder came to one of the deceased Krang's corpse inside a giant statue called The Crying Titan and took a sample of the surrounding fountain of Empyrean, with which he later attempted to extract Hamato Yoshi's life force.

The Krang were worshiped by the Foot Clan with them arriving to enslave Earth like they did to many planets throughout the universe. Four mystic warriors were able to create a weapon that when used, would lock the Krang into a prison dimension beyond this realm. Over many centuries, the key was hidden to ensure that the Krang could never return.

In modern day, the Foot Clan hired Hypno-Potamus and Warren Stone to retrieve the keystone in order to release the Krang out of their prison dimension. The two are interrupted by the Mad Dogs, but eventually, Foot Lieutenant was able to secure the keystone and bring it back to the Foot Clan base. As the Foot Clan begins the ritual to open the portal, they are again interrupted by the Mad Dogs, who were warned by someone from the future named Casey Jones of the upcoming Krang invasion. However, they ultimately fail as the portal is already opened, with the three remaining Krang stepping out and stripping the Hamatos of their mystic abilities before attacking them. Just as they retreat, Leonardo manages to take away the key but at the cost of Raphael giving away his escape pod to him, leaving himself behind with the Krang. The Krang then goes to New York to retrieve the key, which they eventually succeed in doing. They later meet up again with the Mad Dogs by using Raph as a trap and revealing to them that he is now "improved". They open a portal atop the tallest building in the city, Metro Tower, where they call in the Technodrome and finally continue their invasion.

Known Members[]

Abilities[]

  • Mutation: Krang and his siblings are able to mutate without their mutagen living and non living things into Krang hybrids, also known as Krang Zombies, which they control.
    • Mind reading: The Krang are able to literally reach through the minds of other organisms, as Krang One demonstrated to Raph when trying to locate the portal key.
  • Power nullification: Krang is able to strip away mystic powers from enemies via a scream.
  • Titan: The Krang "Titans" allow for extreme mobility and stronger attacks against enemies, powerful enough for them to jump exceptional lengths and tear through buildings. However, they seem to vary in strength since Krang Three's Titan was much less destructive than Krang Two and especially Krang One's.

Notes and trivia[]

  • The screaming sound effect of the Kraang from the previous television series was reused for the Krang cameos.
  • The vehicle that takes Krang Two away at the end of the film appears to bear the logo of the Earth Protection Force from the 2003 series. Additionally, a man with an extremely heavy resemblance to Agent Bishop appears to be explaining something to a woman, potentially teasing his involvement in a future season.
  • This is the first incarnation of the Krang shown to be capable of defending themselves without an Exo Suit.
  • The Krang in this continuity are, without a doubt, some of the deadliest and most malignant forces in the franchise, having single-handedly scorched the Earth, killing every living being on it except for Casey Jones. Their bloodlust, penchant for sadistic levels of cruelty, and obsession with strength over compassion and justice, combined with their incomprehensible strength and powers makes them a force to be reckoned with, in stark contrast to the Krang from the previous incarnations.
  • According to Krang-One, most of the Krang didn't survive the Prison Dimension, indicating that they may have died out.
