Administrators are users with special abilities granted to them by a bureaucrat. They are subject to the same rules as other users, but have the ability to make fixes and changes at a higher level.

A bureaucrat is a higher level administrator with more functions to oversee the Wiki's usage.

What administrators can do

  • Delete and undelete pages, as well as delete uploaded files.
  • Lock/protect a page to limit which users can make changes on it, in the event of vandalism.
  • Block and/or ban user names and IPs from editing.
  • Edit the Wiki's interface by changing system messages and skins.
  • See Help:Administrators' how-to guide for further details and how to use these "powers".

How do I become an administrator?

An administrator can only be selected by a bureaucrat. This is not a role that is typically assigned to people who ask for it, but instead to someone who a/the bureaucrat(s) find to be a helpful presence on the Wiki and generally good at following the rules.

What are administrators not supposed to do?

Just like other TurtlePedia users, administrators should not enforce changes based solely on personal preference. An administrator is supposed to make decisions based on rational judgement and assuming good faith. There may be many situations in which an administrator or bureaucrat goes forth with an action that he or she personally finds distasteful, but is deemed overall a necessity or positive movement for the Wiki. Administrators are encouraged to discuss with other administrators, as well as potentially other users, about any significantly major changes they wish to implement.
