Sumō, also called "sumo wrestling" is a Japanese combat sport. It is a form of wrestling steeped in tradition and superstition. The goal of sumō is for one of the two combatants to force his or her opponent outside of the ring.

Tai San is a Japanese sumo wrestler

Tai San in the Archie Comics is a sumō wrestler. In the 1987 cartoon episode Nightmare in the Lair, Splinter tells he used to listen to sumō matches over the radio when he was young.

In the 2012 cartoon episode Yojimbo, Sumo Kuma is a bear who practices sumo wrestling.

In 1995, Playmates Toys released the Sumo Turtles action figure subline.[1]
