A stun gun is a conducted energy device which is an effective, less-lethal defense tool use for the immobilization of attackers. They are utilized by law enforcement, but can also be an effective personal protection device that can be used by anyone to incapacitate an attacker temporarily. A stun gun, also often simply called a “taser” after the most popular model, come in a range of voltages. The Taser device fires two small dart-like electrodes which stay connected to the main unit by thin insulated copper wire. Unlike Tasers, stun guns require direct contact with the attacker to deliver an electric shock.

When Mechazoid 04 breaks into the subway police station in order to get at Donatello, one of the officers deploys his taser into the robot. Donatello modifies April O'Neil's stun gun to make it strong enough to hit his brothers at a distance. April had used the stun gun on him to remove the Rat King's mind-control and Don does the same for his brothers.
