Stone Hedgehog was a normal hedgehog until an Enviro-Pod transformed him into a rock-slinging member of the Conservation Corps.

History[]

An alien from Danopaulus named Benevolence crash-landed in Antartica. He jettisoned his cargo, the Enviro-Pods, hoping they'd reach destinations which would be beneficial. One such pod landed in Wiltshire, England, just outside the fabled Stonehenge. A hedgehog touched the Enviro-Pod, and he was transformed into Stone Hedgehog. The pod then scoops him up, returning him to the South Pole with his "brothers", Firefly, Green Horn, and Water Buffalo. There, they meet their benefactor Benevolence, who passes on his life's work - environmentalism - to them.

Cudley, the interdimensional Cowlick, was passing by the Antarctic at this time, and headed to New York City to tell the Ninja Turtles what he had seen. He happened upon the Turtles and Splinter in the Atlantic Ocean, where they were attacked by a giant mutated duck, Oily Bird. Cudley returned to the South Pole to gather the creatures he had seen.

Upon Cudley's arrival, the newly mutated creatures assume him a monster created by an ecological mishap and attack him, but he just scoops them up in his mouth. He returns to the Turtles and Leo says that Don dove down to attempt to rescue Splinter, who had fallen overboard when Oily Bird capsized their ship. Water Buffalo saves them, and the Turtles attack Oily Bird, only to be swatted away. Splinter chastizes them for leaping into battle without a strategy and suggests concocting a plan with their apparent new allies.

Firefly begins burning up the oil that Oily Bird needs to feed on, and Raph distracts the duck by throwing his sai at him. Mike uses two pieces of driftwood to make skis, and Stone Hedgehog holds a line while hanging onto Water Buffalo's horns, as he swims at full speed toward Oily Bird to launch the hedgehog and turtle at him. Mike slaps Oily Bird's face and pokes out his eyes, and Stone Hedgehog finishes the fight by launching a quill at the duck's head, knocking him out. He's only out long enough for the "Conservation Corps" to introduce themselves and give a brief explanation of their origin, however, and when he comes to again, Oily Bird uses his knowledge of Benevolence's existence to go after him. As he flies off, Oily Bird taunts them by saying he's already started four oil leaks around the globe and Don hears a report over his shortwave radio of all of the leaks' locations. Cudley gathers up the Conservation Corps and Ninja Turtles into his mouth while Splinter remains behind on the raft that Green Horn made. Seconds after they out of sight, however, Oily Bird ambushes Splinter and knocks him out to use as collateral, taking off back to Antarctica with him.

Stone Hedgehog and Michelangelo head to the Hoover Dam together. Stone Hedgehog dams up the Colorado River long enough for him to seal up the oil leak, then he knocks down his dam to allow the river to flow again. Mikey investigates what was smoking when they arrived, and he finds the dam's turbines clogged with oily sludge, starting a fire. Stone Hedgehog arrives, having completed his task, and washes out the oil and fire, surfing in on a rock board.

With the leaks taken care of, Cudley takes the Turtles and Corps back to Antartica. They fight Oily Bird again, with Firefly and Water Buffalo taking him out of commission once more, but again very briefly. Benevolence hobbles into his ship and mows Oily Bird over with it, causing a boulder to come loose from nearby and bean him on the head, finally knocking him out long-term.

With Benevolence seemingly at death's door, he tells the Corps that there is a fifth member yet-to-be located. Cudley then takes Benevolence back to Danopaulus to die, with the unconscious Oily Bird so that he cannot cause any trouble again. The Conservation Corps say goodbye to their new friends as they search for their missing comrade. Espirit de Corps
