Some TMNT stuff really isn't for little kids.

In the IDW continuity, Stone is a mutant octopus and a member of the Mutanimals. He first appears in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #105.

History[]

Stone first appeared alongside the more familiar character Man Ray at the Kennel Klub in Mutant Town. The two Mutanimals, standing discreetly in the club, are keeping an eye on the Turtles as Jennika becomes better acquainted with Sheena and Michelangelo and Leonardo are breaking the ice with fellow Mutanimals Puggle and Bandit. Later, Stone reappeared having snuck inside the Splinter Dōjō at night, prowling past the rooms of its various turtle and weasel residents. He snuck into Leonardo's room as the latter was reading, and climbed up the wall and clung to the ceiling. Leo was startled when he realized the octopus was above him. TMNT #109

Stone pounced on Leo, and they briefly fought in Leo's room. But Stone soon squirted Leo with octopus ink and started escaping. Leo followed in hot pursuit across the rooftops of Mutant Town, unknowingly followed by the weasels. Leo tracked Stone to the new Mutanimals Headquarters, where Leo infiltrated with a combination of disguises and by pretending to be a new recruit. Inside, Leo overheard Stone and Old Hob talking about how Hob was convinced that the Splinter Dōjō was being set up as an armed stronghold to rival the Mutanimals' power in Mutant Town, and how the Mutanimals would keep investigating the building until they could uncover any secret plans. But the eavesdropping was interrupted when Zanna, missing her father, ran out into view to reunite with Hob. Leo threw a shuriken at the room's overhead light fixture, darkening the room, and swiftly grabbed all three weasels and fled. Leo and the weasels started heading back to the Dōjō to warn the Splinter Clan of the new threat. TMNT #110

Trivia[]

  • Stone's name was not immediately revealed in-story, but it was separately revealed by creator Sophie Campbell. He is named Stone as an allusion to octopuses being able to reshape and camouflage themselves as stones.[1]
