Springfield is the largest city in western Massachusetts. In Eastman and Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, when the Turtles and company are living in Northampton (also in western Massachusetts), they sometimes visit Springfield. Officer Longer (better known as Nobody) was a Springfield police officer in Volume 1, but had transferred to Northampton by Volume 2.

Splinter sends three of the Turtles on a training mission to Springfield, where they are to find Casey Jones and return to Northampton. If Casey eludes them, the Turtles will have to walk back to Northampton - all 20 miles. Shades of Gray
