Splinter is the adoptive father and ninjutsu sensei of Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo. He appears in the Turtles of Grayskull (mini-comics) and Turtles of Grayskull (comics).

Turtles of Grayskull (mini-comics)[]
After the Turtles have traveled to Eternia, Splinter is left in the Turtle Lair. During his meditation, the Sword of Power calls through him, allowing him to appear before his sons who are inside Castle Grayskull. Merging with the Spirit of Grayskull, Splinter has become Splinter-Skull.
Turtles of Grayskull (comics)[]
An anxious Splinter waits in the Turtle Lair with April O'Neil for a mystic call from Eternia, where his sons have travelled. He admits to having let himself go since finding himself alone in the house and asks April if she thinks they'll recognize him. An amused April says she's pretty sure they will. The mystic window is opened and the Turtles all start talking at once. Splinter finally calls to them several times to stop them talking so he can ask if they are okay. They assure him they are and Michelangelo tells his father and April the story of everything they've gone through so far. When his story is done, Leonardo says they stayed because the bushidō virtue of honesty requires it, as Krang and Shredder are their enemies. As Orko is about to close the window, Donatello stops him to tell Splinter that Man-At-Arms told him a secret - that Prince Adam is He-Man. Man-At-Arms told him he could have stopped Adam from taking up a magic sword and becoming He-Man, but that Eternia needed a hero. Sometimes though, he wishes that he'd let Adam be a normal teenager. Don asks his father if he ever feels that way about them. The window closes before Splinter has a chance to answer, but he completes his sentence anyway, saying he wishes that every single day. April puts her arms around him to offer comfort.
