The Spirit Plane in the 2012 TV series is the foggy home of the spirits, where the the Deer lives and where the Turtles went to train before returning to New York.
History[]
In Vision Quest, while hunting in the woods, Leonardo is attacked and defeated by a mysterious deer, making him realize that he and his brothers have become at odds with nature itself. So by his suggestion, the Turtles go camping in order refine themselves. During which, Master Splinter appears before them in spirit form, telling them that they must venture into the Spirit Plane to overcome their own weaknesses. Afterwards, the Turtles create new gear and weapons and each then enter the Spirit Plane alone. There, the Turtles fight and manage to defeat spiritual apparitions of their greatest enemies: Foot Soldiers, Rahzar, Fishface, Tiger Claw, and Shredder. Upon returning to the O'Neil Farm, they gain the resolve to return to New York City.
The spirit plane woods appears in the Season 3's new opening sequence, as the Turtles appear in their Vision Quest suits.

- The Spirit Plane is similar to the Astral Plane featured in the Mirage and Image comics.
