Some TMNT stuff really isn't for little kids. |
In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Other Strangeness by Palladium Books, the Sparrow-Eagles are a team of three teenage mutant ninja sparrows, written as supplemental characters for the role playing game. The tutorials provided in TMNT&OS showcase the Sparrow-Eagles as an example of an originally-designed team of mutant ninja that players could create using the game's character creation system. This not only made the Sparrow-Eagles memorable to the game's learners, but indelibly associated them with TMNT tabletop role-playing. The Sparrow-Eagles are not associated with any particular pre-written role-playing scenario. And despite the team's name, none of them are eagles.

Trivia[]
- Decades after TMNT&OS was published, the 2012 TV series episode "Mazes & Mutants" parodied tabletop role-playing and its associated geek culture in general, with the episode's antagonist Sir Malachi also being a mutant sparrow (though not a ninja).
- Their name is likely derived from a line in William Shakespeare's MacBeth ("As sparrows, eagles, or the hare, the lion." - Act 1, Scene 2, Line 39)
