This is a transcript for Space Invaders, Part I, the second episode of season three of TMNT (2003 series).
VOICE-OVER INTRO | |
Prime Leader Zanramon | We have fought long and hard in the war against our hated enemies, the Federation. Precious Triceraton blood has been spilt. Our glorious Homeworld damaged in battle. But through our bravery and strength of arms, we forced the mighty Federation into retreat. And very soon, we shall strike at them in force and bathe ourselves in the sweet nectar of victory. [Triceratons: Victory! Victory! Victory!] Our path to triumph is clear. We must recapture this Fugitoid who holds in its circuitry the mind of Professor Honeycutt. His teleportal device shall provide us with the means to crush the Federation and rule the universe once and for all. The Fugitoid and his allies used the teleportal to escape us last time. But we have tracked the teleportal's transionic particle trail to the farthest corner of the T-17 galaxy to an insignificant watery green-blue planet. Even if we must tear that pitiful world apart piece by piece, the Fugitoid will be ours. Begin the countdown to victory! [Triceratons: Victory! Victory! Victory!] |
{Opening sequence; title song}
The episode begins with a countdown clock which starts at 12:00:00. Inside the lair, Donatello and Michelangelo are playing video games. Both are hanging upside down from overhead wiring.
Donatello | No! I’m hit! |
Michelangelo | First rule of playing “Space Destructor”, Don boy, never go up against me. For I am the Spacinator! Resistance is futile! [Suddenly the entire lair goes dark.] No! Not another blackout! My high score! |
Donatello | Relax, Spacinator. It’s not the end of the world. |
In space, the Triceraton Homeworld reaches Earth. The docking arms release Triceraton Motherships, which proceed to spread out over the planet. Once they are in position, each emits a powerful energy beam, which then connects to the other beams and creates a pyramid shaped force shield around the entire planet.
Commander Mozar | The shield is in place, Prime Leader, and impenetrable to anything but our spacecraft. The Fugitoid cannot escape. |
Zanramon | Begin the invasion! |
Mozar | To victory! |
Hatches open on the sides of the Motherships and multiple Triceraton Fighter Ships fly out and head towards Earth. The countdown clock shows 10:30:00. Cut to a military base. Inside is a huge monitoring system, with banks of computers, sensors, and monitors.
Soldier | Um, sir? We have a problem. Uh, we have multiple bogies. Spacecraft, sir. We’re under attack from, uh... outer space? |
Officer | Aliens? You’ve gotta be kidding me. [He lifts a red telephone.] Full alert! We’re going to Defcon 4! |
Soldiers | Go, go, go, go! |
Military jets take off and fly up to meet the Triceraton Fighters. The military jets open fire with missiles, but the Triceraton force shields around each ship protects them from damage. They return fire with lasers and easily knock the military jets out of the sky. The Motherships then unleash an array of lasers, which destroys military bases, air stations, and battleship fleets. The Officer is on the red phone, speaking to the President.
Officer | Yes, Mr. President. We have taken heavy losses. But we have combat-ready troops, and our boys at Langton are gonna send up everything we... |
Soldier | Sir? Langton. It’s been destroyed. [The largest monitor shows Triceraton strikes.] Europe. Far East. Africa. Nearly every military base worldwide! |
The countdown clock shows at 06:02:49.
Mozar | Prime Leader, the resistance these worms offered was fierce but ineffective. |
Zanramon | Fine. And where is the Fugitoid, Commander Mozar? |
Mozar | We haven’t found him yet, sir, but we will. The hunt has begun. |
People run screaming through the streets of New York City. Above them are Triceratons in their Flying Harnesses. They are focusing on certain people.
Triceraton | That one. Setting to stun. |
People | Aah! Run! |
The Triceraton fires a stun laser and hits a man, who immediately goes down. The Triceraton scoops the man up and continues on. Above the buildings are numerous Triceraton Hover Skiffs, which can hold seven Triceratons each. The sky is also filled with Triceraton Hover Shuttles. People still outside scatter as the shuttles land and Triceraton troops by the hundreds march into the streets. Cut to April O’Neil, in her shop. She is working out with a punching bag. Nearby, the television is on.
Alex Carlin | This is the Emergency Broadcast System. We interrupt this program to bring you critical information. [April stops to watch.] Today the unthinkable happened. Earth no longer need question if there is life on other planets. [Shift to Casey Jones’ apartment. The TV is on and he is watching the invasion from his window.] It is here, and we are in the full grip of an alien invasion. Is there any way for us to defend against this assault from the stars? Or is this truly the end of the human race? |
The large TV screen in Times Square is blasted. The countdown clock reaches 00:00:00. The power comes on inside the lair and the television array flickers to life. Every TV shows the invasion.
Reporter | This was the scene moments ago in Time Square. [Images of Triceratons and their ships.] Reports are coming in from all over the world. [Triceraton ships are shown near pyramids, the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben and mountains.] We are being invaded by some extraterrestrial force! |
Splinter | My sons, it is very important for you all to stay in the lair until... [He turns to find they’ve all vanished. He shakes his head.] Uh. |
From atop a water tower, the turtles watch the invading ships fly past.
Leonardo | Triceratons! |
Raphael | I hate those guys! We gotta do something! |
Donatello | What can we do against an entire invasion? |
Michelangelo | It’s the end of the world as we know it. And I don’t feel fine. |
The Turtles drop from the water tower into an alley.
Donatello | I don’t get it. With all the planets in the galaxies, why here? Why Earth? |
Raphael | Maybe that horn head Zanramon is still mad at us for stealing his personal space cruiser. [laughs] It was a pretty sweet ride. |
Leonardo | I don’t think this is about us. We’re not important enough for them to travel halfway across the universe. |
Michelangelo | Hey, speak for yourself! I’m considered a pretty bad hombre pretty much anywhere in the galaxy. Remember, I am the Battle Nexus champion. [Raphael smacks his head.] Ow! |
They are startled by a nearby voice.
Triceraton | Team three, search the northern quadrant. Team two, you’re with me. |
A Triceraton on a hover skiff flies past the alley and then backs up. The Triceraton stares into the alley, but the Turtles are hiding behind a dumpster. Another hover skiff pulls alongside the first.
Triceraton | I’m picking up a heavy concentration of transionic particles coming from inside that structure. [He points up towards a building opposite the alley.] We’ll check it out. You keep searching. |
The two skiffs separate, one moving along the street, the other rising towards an upper window in the nearby building. The Triceratons blast a hole in the wall and the old lady inside screams as one of the Triceratons hops into her apartment.
Little Old Lady | Help! Horrible dinosaur creatures! |
The Triceraton picks her up, tosses her over his shoulder, and jumps back onto the hover skiff.
Leonardo | We may not be able to save the world, but we sure as shell can save that old lady! Come on! |
The Turtles run along the rooftops in pursuit of the Triceratons who have the kidnapped woman. Donatello catches up first and jumps onto the back of the hover skiff. The Triceraton sets the woman down and turns to leap at the turtle, but Donatello does a backflip off of the skiff and lands on top of a light pole. While the two Triceratons are turned to look at him, Leonardo jumps onto the skiff, grabs the old lady, and leaps back off again. The Triceratons turn the skiff around and speed towards Leonardo.
Michelangelo | Yo, eat these, horn heads! |
He and Raphael leap down at the skiff. Michelangelo kicks one of the Triceratons off and then the two turtles face the remaining one.
Raphael | It’s not nice to invade Mr. Raphie’s neighborhood. |
Before the Triceraton can fire his weapon, Raphael stabs it with his sai and jerks the blaster from his hands. Raphael strikes him several times before kicking him down. Michelangelo has taken over the skiff controls.
Michelangelo | Yo, Raphie boy! Their friends are coming back! |
Another skiff, containing three Triceratons, races towards them. The Triceratons open fire. Michelangelo pushes the skiff into high speed and the pilot of the other skiff does the same. Just as they are about to collide, the two turtles leap off to land safely on a nearby rooftop. There is a loud explosion as the two skiffs plow into each other. Raphael laughs and the two brothers bump fists.
Michelangelo | All right! |
In an alley, the old lady starts to wake. Her eyes open to the sight of four turtles staring at her.
Old Lady | Help! Horrible space creatures! Oh! |
She passes out. | |
Michelangelo | I think what she meant was “thanks for the rescue”. |
A hover skiff flies past with Triceratons standing guard over human prisoners.
Leonardo | Why would the Triceratons be rounding up civilians? |
Raphael | Don’t look at me. Ask the shell answer man here. |
He points at Donatello, who is looking at readouts on a handheld device.
Donatello | Well, first off, it looks like the Triceratons are only rounding up certain civilians. Whoa! [The device beeps and then shows a signal coming from their location.] Seems that whatever the Triceratons are scanning for, we’re full of it. |
Raphael | [chuckles] No big news there. Mikey’s always been full of it. |
Cut to 2nd Time Around. The readout on a Triceraton device is similar to the one Donatello received.
Triceraton | In there. The transionic particle reading is very strong. Let’s move. |
They fly their hover skiff closer to the building. Inside, Casey is arguing with April.
Casey Jones | I’m telling you, April, it’s crazy out there. [He hands her a helmet.] I’m getting you out of town where it’s safe. |
April O’Neil | Look, Casey, I appreciate the thought, but I can take care of-- [She is interrupted by the front window of her shop being blown apart by the Triceratons. April puts the helmet on.] Um, okay. Let’s go! |
The pair race out of the shop and into the alley where Casey has parked his motorcycle. They speed off, with the Triceratons pursuing and firing on them.
April | Casey, you know how I’m always telling you not to go so fast? |
Casey | Uh-huh. |
April | Go fast! Go fast! [Casey speeds up and zigzags to avoid being hit by blaster fire. April spots something ahead of them while Casey is looking back.] Casey, look out! |
Blocking the road is a wrecked truck and car. Casey hits the brakes and the motorcycle goes into a sideways skid.
Casey | Ah. Hang on, babe! |
He straightens the motorcycle and heads for a large signboard lying across the truck.
April | Don’t call me babe! |
Casey uses the signboard as a ramp and flies over the truck.
Casey | Whoo-hoo! |
April | Yes! [Two Triceratons in flying harnesses fire on them.] Oh! |
A laser blast hits the wheel of Casey’s motorcycle, causing it to crash. April and Casey are thrown free, but hit the pavement hard. Both are unconscious when they are surrounded by Triceratons. Cut to the United Nations building. In a large meeting chamber, representative from around the world are all talking at once.
Country 1 | Quiet, please. Quiet! We must try to reason with these extraterrestrials. |
Country 2 | We must ask them what they want. Perhaps they mistook us for aggressors after we launched our jets. |
Everyone begins talking at once again. Suddenly, the giant screen in the room switches on, displaying Zanramon.
Zanramon | Inhabitants of this planet, you are now under my control and my command. I am Zanramon, Prime Leader of the great and glorious Triceraton Republic. [His transmission plays on every screen in the world.] Hear our demands. You will immediately surrender to us Professor Honeycutt, a Fugitoid, or face annihilation. If you give us the Fugitoid, we may spare your pathetic lives. Deny us, and you will be destroyed! You have ten trigons to comply. |
The turtles are watching the transmission through an apartment window.
Leonardo | There’s a surprise. They’re looking for the Fugitoid. |
Michelangelo | The term “oops, wrong planet” comes to mind. |
Raphael | Yeah. Professor Egghead ain’t on Earth no more. |
The turtles climb to the roof of the building.
Donatello | Judging from the tracking device they’re using, the Triceratons followed the transionic residue of the transmat team thinking it was the Fugitoid’s teleportal. |
Michelangelo | But the Fugitoid’s teleportal doesn’t work, remember? We built it. It was a dud. |
Raphael | So let me get this straight. The Triceracreeps are after someone who ain’t even here, ‘cause they want an invention of his that don’t even work? |
Leonardo | That about sums it up. [His shell cell rings.] Hello. |
A split screen shows Leonardo listening as April whispers into her shell cell from Central Park. Other humans walk past her.
April | Leo, guys, it’s April. Casey and I are in kind of a tight spot. |
Leonardo | April, I can’t hear you. Can you talk a little louder? |
A wide shot shows Triceratons herding the humans.
April | Um, not really. We’re being held by these aliens. They’re big and ugly, and they stink. They’ve got a bunch of us here in Central Park. [A Triceraton grabs the shell cell.] Oh! |
The Triceraton crushes the shell cell in his hand.
Triceraton | Keep moving, you scum! |
Leonardo | Hello? April! No! They’ve got Casey and April. They’re taking them to Central Park. |
Raphael | Well, then why are we sitting here twiddling our shells? Let’s move. |
In Central Park, the Triceratons are herding people into a specific area. A Triceraton shoves Casey.
Casey | Uh! Hey! Quit pushing, slimeball, or I’ll... |
The Triceraton backhands him, knocking Casey to the ground.
April | Casey! |
Triceraton | You’ll do as you’re told, weakling. |
A trio of hover skiffs form overhead, their lights focused on the human captives. The ground troops step back as the Triceratons activate a force shield that acts as a cage. Casey tries punching the shield, but receives a shock and is thrown back. On a rooftop overlooking the area, two men spy on the operation.
Man | Outpost 348, reporting in. No sign of the turtles, sir. [He listens to someone on his earpiece.] No, I agree, sir. At this point, if the earthlings are in the Triceraton’s clutches, they won’t be alive for much longer. |
The turtles have reached Central Park and stay hidden from the Triceraton patrols.
Donatello | Casey and April must be in there somewhere. |
Michelangelo | Nice. A portable Alcatraz. Now everybody’s gonna want one. |
Raphael | Let’s get ready to kick some shell. |
Leonardo | Hold it, Raph. We’re way outnumbered. We need to use our heads. |
Raphael | Guess that leaves Mikey out. |
Michelangelo | You know, if all those people were set free at once, there’d be a lot of confusion. |
Raphael | Mikey had a good idea? |
Leonardo | Mikey had a good idea. Donny, how do we get the cage down? |
Donatello | Well, see that? The cage is triangulated by those three hovering platforms. If we knock out one, the whole thing should come down. |
Leonardo | Mikey, Raph, see if you two can set up a diversion so Donny and I can get in close enough to take out one of those platforms. Let’s move! |
The turtles head out. In space, the Triceraton Prime Leader demands results.
Zanramon | Commander Mozar, I grow impatient. Every moment we delay in getting our hands on the Fugitoid is a moment that could cost us dearly. We need the Fugitoid. |
Mozar | I understand, Prime Leader, but the earthlings continue to deny any knowledge of the Fugitoid whatsoever. |
Zanramon | They are lying! We traced the Fugitoid to this planet. He has to be here. |
Mozar | Our contingency plan is already in motion. Our warriors have been rounding up any and all of the Earth creatures bearing a transionic residue. This means these earthlings were in close proximity to the Fugitoid when he teleported to this planet. One of them is certain to have knowledge of him. They will share this knowledge with us willingly or we will scan their brains and take what we need. Either way, the Fugitoid will be ours soon enough. |
Zanramon | Yes, excellent. Have the captives brought up at once. |
A Triceraton shuttle lands inside the force shield in Central Park. A loading hatch opens and several Triceratons step out, their weapons aimed at the human captives.
Triceraton | All right, we’ve got our orders. Let’s get to work. |
The Triceratons begin forcing their captives towards the shuttle.
Casey | I still think we gotta be bustin’ ourselves outta here. |
April | I agree, Casey, but how? |
Triceraton | Come on! Move it! |
April and Casey are running from the Triceratons when one grabs April’s arm.
April | Ah! No! |
Casey | Get your paws off of her, you punk! [Casey leaps on the Triceratons back and begins punching him in the head. Another Triceraton hits Casey with the butt of his weapon.] Uh! |
Casey hits the ground and the Triceraton carries April to the shuttle.
April | Casey! Put me down! I mean it! Put me down! |
Meanwhile, Raphael and Michelangelo have worked their way around to a Triceraton camp. As Raphael prepares to charge, Michelangelo stops him.
Michelangelo | Hang on. I got a better idea. [He grabs one of the Triceraton blasters that is leaning against a rock and begins punching buttons on its side. When he presses a large red button, it lights up and starts flashing.] Check it out. [He throws it towards the Triceratons.] Laser on overload! Run! |
The two turtles take off. The Triceratons shout and scatter. The blast is so powerful it knocks the pair of turtles off their feet. They hit the ground and then jump up and run before the Triceratons reach their location. Alarms blare in the background. Leonardo and Donatello duck behind a pair of boulders.
Leonardo | Mikey. |
Donatello | Definitely Mikey. |
Leonardo | Come on. Let’s open the cage. |
They both run full tilt towards the Triceraton ‘cage’. Donatello uses his bō to vault onto a skiff and Leonardo leaps up behind him. When the Triceraton pilot turns, he receives a face full of staff and falls off the skiff. Leonardo then leaps up to another skiff and into it, before jumping off. The energy shield goes out and the skiff falls from the sky.
Triceraton | The cage is down! Guard the prisoners! |
The captives begin running in all directions, knocking over Triceratons in their panic to get away. April is still being shoved aboard the shuttle.
April | Casey! |
Donatello | April! No! |
He makes a flying jump, throwing his bō at the same time. It clouts a Triceraton in the back of the head and knocks him down. Donatello lands on the loading ramp, catches his bō, and strikes another Triceraton to the ground. He swings the staff around and smacks the third Triceraton off the ramp, sheathes his bō, and picks up two of the dropped blasters.
Donatello | Back off, you bunch of cretaceous leftovers! Keep your hands where I can see them! |
April flings her arms around Donatello’s neck.
April | Oh, Donny, I could just kiss you! |
Donatello | Really? Uh, I mean, we’d better get these people out of here, fast. |
April | You heard the turtle! Let’s move! |
Man | Come on. |
The captives run as Donatello stands watch.
Donatello | Step back a bit. Nice horn heads. [A laser blast hits him in the back.] Oh! |
He collapses on the ramp.
April | Donny! No! |
Triceraton | This is one of the Terrapin creatures that was with the Fugitoid. Quick, take him and let’s go. |
A pair of Triceratons haul Donatello aboard the shuttle and then the loading ramp closes. April runs to the shuttle and begins beating on it with her fists.
April | No! [The shuttle takes off.] Donny! Donny! |
