Plot[]
The episode starts with the Mad Dogs, April and Mayhem frolicking in Bronx Park on a sunny snow day and building a snowman in the likeness of their favorite sci-fi character, Jupiter Jim.
Trouble arises when the finishing touch needs to be added and the group splits over which movie flag should stand on the pole. Ghostbear who happens to own a gym room in front of the park recognizes them and decides to ruin their day. He sneaks on them an attacks Raphael with a snowball, but is disgruntled after seeing the teenagers joyfully start a snow-ball fight instead of escalating into a violent dispute. The Ex-Champion is so dejected that he accidentally gets himself snowed by a passing truck.
The teens agree to a truce over a cup of hot cocoa but soon enough the snow fight resumes. The content of their thermos gets knocked off and releases an Oozesquito stuck in the frozen ground. To make matters worse, Oozequito bites Ghostbear and transforms into large monstrous beast, with an ability of being half-ghost and half-bear.
The mutated Ghostbear confronts the heroes and attacks. The turtles and April try to attack him but he proves to be too powerful. Ghostbear even destroys their snowman the process. Luckily, Raph gets an idea to use their snowy environment to their advantage and freeze Ghostbear in his tracks. In the end, they hang their scarves on the flag pole to show that they work better together.
Trivia[]
- This episode features a musical number named "Snow Day, Hooray!".
- The flag Raph makes using the others' scarves forms a rainbow flag, in the same six-color configuration as the traditional LGBT pride flag.
- This episode title shares the same title from the Nickelodeon 2000 comedy film Snow Day.
- It was revealed in December 2022 by Rise of the TMNT background painter Jermaine Jose in a Tweet that snow scenery in Calvin and Hobbes comic strips were a source of inspiration for the look of the snowman backgrounds in this episode.[1]
