The Ninja Turtles faced these Skeleton Pirates in Red Sails in the Sunset after Raphael released their souls from a treasure chest on board the pirates' ship. In order to put them to rest, a riddle needed to be solved: "Lift the curse by freeing the lady and letting the sands of time wash over her."
April and Man Ray realize that the ship's mast has a carving of a woman; Leonardo cuts it down while fighting the pirate captain and April and Man Ray bury it in the sand at the water's edge, so that the sand can wash over the mast figurehead. This effectively ends the curse.
