The Tengu named Shredder is the earliest known incarnation of a being by that name. When the Tengu Shredder attacks a village in Japan, the Five Dragons are called to fight the monster. Just before one of the Five Dragons, Oroku Saki, struck the final blow, the demon telepathically made a pact with him, to have his soul transferred into Saki in exchange for almost unlimited power. Saki agreed, and as such, destroyed nothing but a husk of what was once the Tengu.
