The Bad Guy Leader
Shredder is the hideous, gruesome and all around bad guy leader of the Foot Clan, the organized band of evil Ninjas. This low life came to power when he betrayed his Ninja master, Hamato Yoshi (now Splinter).
Shredder wants nothing more than control of the world. And to get there, he'll stop at nothing, even if it means grating his victims like cheese with his razor-sharp armor. The obstacles in his path are none other than the Turtles, and he means to destroy them. Shredder fights a never-ending battle against the truth, justice and the American way. Basically, he's not a nice guy.
- The 1988 Shredder figure has seen continual release until about 1995. The first Shredder reissue was in 1998, followed 8 years later in 2010 and finally 2013. The version issued in 1998 is almost identical to that of the original '88 release with the exception of a 1998 date stamp on his backside. The 2010 version was for the 25th Anniversary reissue line and featured a slightly different leg sculpt. This variation was also packaged with the mini-Krang figure that was originally carded with 1994's Krang's Android Body. The 2013 version is identical to the 2010 reissue with the only noticable difference being in paint quality and larger peg holes in the feet. This is presumably so the figure can be used with current TMNT vehicles and playsets. This Shredder is packaged on cards with Classic Collection on the top right corner.
- This figure was remoulded into the Toon Shredder (1992 action figure).
- Oddly enough, the front of the helmet is not fully painted and is flesh-coloured, this mistake has been present with all the re-releases and has never been corrected!
