Shinsho was a Foot Ninja who was attacked by Tatsu out of anger. Initially, as scripted and filmed, Tatsu was supposed to have killed Shinsho, ostensibly as a display of his level as a threat, as well as causing some of the Foot initiates' loyalty to waver. However, in the final product, a groan from Shinsho has been added in post-production, signifying that he had lived through the assault. In the comic and novel adaptations, however, the boy still dies.
