Synopsis[]

The Turtles are returning to the lair from a journey outside, and Michelangelo is fussing about how unfair it is that he’s never allowed to drive the Shellraiser. Donatello explains that it’s a serious piece of hardware requiring a serious driver. When Mikey tries to tell them he can be serious, they dismiss him, saying they like him the way he is.

Splinter notices that Mikey appears troubled and asks why. Mikey tells him that everyone thinks he’s a joke, but he can be serious too. Raphael says he’s about as serious as he is dangerous. Angered, Mikey vows that he’ll show them how serious he can be and that for the rest of the day, he swears not to joke, smile or laugh.

7:00pm… In battle with Dogpound and the Foot. Dogpound prepares to blast the Turtles with a giant gun, but Leonardo draws Don’s attention to the barrel. This prompts Don to throw his staff, which plugs the barrel and causes the weapon to explode. The result is that a large portion of fur on Dogpound’s body is burned off and embarrassed, he runs away. Though his brothers try to draw Mikey’s attention to how funny that is, the young turtle manages not to laugh.

9:00pm… Investigating the Kraang. The Turtles peer through a skylight into a chemical facility operated by the Kraang. Don has created special breathing masks to filter out Kraang toxins. As Raph puts one on Don shouts a warning, but it’s too late. The mask is a special one made for April, which applies water-resistant automatic makeup. Raph’s face is completely made up with makeup, and when Don says he isn’t sure how long it will take to come off, Raph starts chasing him. Leo tells Mikey that he knows he wants to laugh. Mikey refuses, reiterating that he’s the new seriously serious Mikey.

10:03pm… Lobster tank spill during Purple Dragon battle. Purple Dragons runs around with lobsters attached to their bodies. 10:30pm… Fishface's leg malfunction causes him to kick himself. 11:15 pm… Accidental glue explosion at the pillow factory, with Leo becoming covered in feathers. Through it all, Mikey keeps a straight face.

11:57pm… Back at the lair, Mikey sits quietly in the dojo while his brothers are stunned that he might just make it to midnight. Splinter enters the room and calls out to Michelangelo, who springs to his feet. Having Mikey’s whole attention, Splinter proceeds to hit himself in the face with a pie. Mikey grits his teeth as he tries to hold back, but the pie-in-the face is too classic and he falls to the floor laughing hysterically.

April walks in and asks why he hit himself with a pie. Splinter explains that Mikey’s lighthearted outlook is not a weakness, it’s a strength and shouldn’t be discouraged. Then Mikey races past with a handful of pies, splattering both Splinter and April before moving on to try and peg his brothers. Splinter tells April that perhaps it could be discouraged a little.
