Scumbug is an animal-born mutant cockroach who was one of the "sisters" of Superfly's gang.
History[]
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem[]
Scumbug, like her brothers and sisters, was developed as a mutant child of Baxter Stockman, who wanted his research to not go into developing weapons, and at the same time yearned for a family. Her elder mutant housefly brother, who would later come to call himself Superfly, fought off Spider and the other T.C.R.I. squad members as much as he could, but a stray shot from one of the soldiers hit combustable materials and Stockman was killed in the explosion. Superfly rescued the other baby mutants and raised them on his own.
Superfly later attempted to integrate his siblings into human society, but they were treated like monsters. As a result, between this incident and Stockman's death at their hands, Superfly began to hate humans and taught his siblings to do so, too.
When Superfly's gang met up with the Ninja Turtles, he told them that she only spoke "vermin" when introducing her. Scumbug assisted her siblings in robbery and attacking the (perceived) turncoat Turtles until the latter made a plea for the gang to abandon their plot against humanity. Scumbug, along with her siblings, realized that they never wanted to really eradicate humans to begin with, they just felt they had no other choice. They turned on Superfly and smashed him into his ooze humidifier, with Rocksteady and Bebop giving the final push to knock it - and him - out of their hideout and into the water. Unfortunately, the humidifier went off underwater, fusing Superfly with a whale and other aquatic life, then he stepped into a zoo where he was fused with other animals. The now "Superduperfly" turned his rage to New York City, and his former gang worked to help the Turtles stop him.
Later, the siblings all moved in with the Turtles and Splinter into the sewers. Scumbug and Splinter began a relationship, much to his sons' disgust.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed[]
Although she doesn't appear in the game, Splinter mentioned she had dumped him. In the Fresh Meat DLC, it is revealed Scumbug had moved to the junkyard and had been exposed to the pheromone, which was the reason for their breakup. When the turtles were assisting Leatherhead scavenging the junkyard, Scumbug had them face trial, which through Splinter, she was sentencing them to death before battling them herself, but was defeated and purified, allowing her and Splinter to reconcile during Leatherhead's fashion show.

Notes and trivia[]
- This character is an adaptation of Scumbug, first created by Ryan Brown. This version was developed by Brendan O'Brien and designed by Woodrow White.
- Although Scumbug's digital character poster read "as Himself", the character is only referred to with feminine pronouns and specifically called a "cockroach woman" more than once in the film and other supplementary material (such as The Junior Novelization). According to director Jeff Rowe, this was an error by the marketing department and there was no point in the production in which Scumbug was in consideration to be male. [1]
- The voice of Scumbug is listed in the credits as being Alex Hirsch alone but also was made up of a blend of Jeff Rowe and several other actors' voices. Hirsch then reprised his role in the Tales television series as the sole performer alone.
