Scumbug appeared once in the 1987 TV series, in the episode "Night of the Rogues". Scumbug is a mutant cockroach.
History[]
Scumbug appeared once in the 1987 cartoon episode "Night of the Rogues" where Shredder hired some of the Ninja Turtles' past foes (including the Rat King, Leatherhead, Slash, Tempestra, Chrome Dome, and Antrax) in hopes of defeating the Turtles.
When the Turtles hid in the sewers, Scumbug joined Tempestra and Leatherhead in attacking the Channel 6 building to lure out the turtles out of hiding.
Raphael and Donatello arrived just as Scumbug had cornered April, Irma and Burne, when the two confronted Scumbug, he fired at them with an acid firing gun, but the Turtle duo dodged the blast and it melted the floor instead. However Raphael and Donatello were subsequently blown into hole by Tempestra, confronted by Leatherhead as Scumbug fired an energy net over them.
Scumbug and the Rogues left the Turtles tied up in an exterminator building with a disintegrator set to go off. Scumbug was going to be paid for his work with the treasure filled ship of the legendary space pirate, Captain Logos, but was shocked to see turtles had escaped and dumped the disintegrator bomb onto the ship containing the treasure.
Enraged at having no pay, Scumbug and the other Rogues responded by attacking Shredder and Krang. When the two villains were rescued by Rocksteady and Bebop in the Transport Module. When the turtles confronted them, the rogues decided it wasn't worth fighting them without their pay and fled in different directions.
Appearance[]
Scumbug is a purple cockroach/human hybrid with a stocky build. Parts of his body still have human skin and his right arm is still mostly human, unlike most other mutants. His mandibles are powerful enough to chew through metal, as he demonstrated in the sewers.
Personality[]
Scumbug takes pride in his physiology as a roach mutant and believes insects should rule the Earth. Being in the city's exterminator building gave Scumbug the creeps and like Anthrax, he was delighted that the Bugs Zapper building would be annihilated with the Ninja Turtles.
Notes[]
- Oddly enough, while this was the first appearance of Scumbug and Antrax, April and the Ninja Turtles were familiar with the insectoid villains.
- Scumbug's origin is never mentioned in the series and it is unclear if he was a human exterminator originally like his toy counterpart, especially as he appeared to hate the concept of insect exterminators.
