King Salmon was an African ruler whose legend is told in the TMHT Adventures comics by Fleetway Publications.
Using their Trans-Dimensional Portal, Krang takes the Technodrome to the African Plain. Accompanied by Shredder, Bebop and Rocksteady, Krang’s plan is to find King Salmon’s Mines. Krang shares the legend of King Salmon, who many centuries ago was a famous African ruler who owned the biggest and best gold-producing mines around. The King ordered the mines sealed on his death and their exact location became lost. Many have tried finding the mines despite the curse the King placed on the gold. Because Krang has a map stolen by Rocksteady from a New York museum, he knows where to find the loot.
The group find the entrance through a cave opening and proceed inside, little knowing that the Turtles have also traveled to Africa on their trail. The Turtles locate the cave and enter as well. Ahead of them, the villains find the treasure, but they also find King Salmon’s skeleton seated on a throne. While Krang is celebrating his sudden wealth, the Turtles arrive and a fight ensues. During the battle, Rocksteady falls against King Salmon’s throne, knocking it over. There is a sudden loud rumbling and then the cavern begins collapsing. Everyone manages to escape and Leonardo points out that the throne was booby-trapped to stop people stealing the gold.
