Roger Allen Slifer (Nov. 11, 1954 - Mar. 30, 2015) was a comic book, animation, and video game writer who had worked for many companies, including Marvel, DC, and 4Kids Entertainment. He is best known for The Transformers. While at DC, he co-created the popular anti-villain Lobo. As tribute to his time as co-producer of the first season of the Yu-Gi-Oh! animated series at 4Kids, the card Osiris no Tenkūryū was renamed Slifer the Sky Dragon, after him.

In 2012, Slifer was the victim of a hit-and-run, rendering him comatose for well over a month, and necessitating a portion of his skull to be removed. The foundation Society for Legal, Investigative and Financial Empowerment and Recovery ("S.L.I.F.E.R.") was founded to bring the perpetrator to justice and aid in Slifer's recovery, both medically and financially.
