Roderick Underwood, Sr. is a multimillionaire (possibly billionaire) in Tales of the TMNT. He is Rod's father and the principal financial backer of Bishop Robotics.
History[]
When Bishop seeks funding for her company, Bishop Robotics, she makes a presentation to Roderick Underwood, Sr., a rich entrepreneur. While outlining her objectives, she has one of her robots, Mechazoid Alpha, demonstrate its abilities. She is interrupted partway through when Underwood suddenly says "dump it". He is not talking to her, however, but is on the phone conducting other business. Underwood is very short with Bishop and tells her just to say what she wants, which is funding.
Underwood then turns to his son, Roderick Underwood, Jr., known as Rod. He asks Rod what he thinks because he loved this stuff when he was a kid. Rod is paying more attention to his phone than anything going on around him and replies that he guesses it's cool. This is good enough for Underwood, who says that he'll fund Bishop's project, but she has to give Rod, Jr. a job. This comes as a surprise to Bishop and shocks Rod. Underwood explains that Rod needs direction, that he's tried to find his son something that he's passionate about, something to inspire him - something to get Rod away from him. If Bishop takes Rod, Underwood will double the investment she's asking for.
Of course, Bishop accepts and uses Underwood's money to begin creating Mechazoids. Underwood periodically phones her to check on his son, but more often than not, Bishop declines the calls.
