[Opening sequence and theme song.]
[Episode begins during daytime in New York City. The turtles, in disguises, turn a street corner and enter an alley. Donatello is carrying a bag filled with video tapes.]
Donatello "Oh, boy. This bag of tapes weighs a ton."
Raphael "What do you expect when we watched twenty-five movies in one weekend?"
Michelangelo "Yeah. My eyeballs are still spinning."
Donatello "Hey, who won in that last film anyway, the good guys or the giant cucumber from Venus?"
[There is a clattering sound nearby.]
Leonardo "Hey, guys, listen."
[The peek around the corner and spot a thief using a crowbar on a parked car.]
Michelangelo "That dude's ripping off that car!"
[The thief enters the car and the turtles run towards him. Raphael leans in through the passenger window.]
Raphael "Hi. Uh, this ain't exactly your property, bub."
[The thief shoves Raphael in the face, jumps out of the car, and runs.]
Leonardo "After him!"
[Before they can move, a man wearing a cape jumps down in front of them.]
Cheeseburger Man "All right, lawbreaker, halt! You're no match for Cheeseburger Man."
[He takes a cheeseburger from his pocket.]
Donatello "Cheeseburger Man?"
Cheeseburger Man "It’s no use running, miscreant! My all-beef grenade will stop you!"
[He pulls a pin on the cheeseburger and throws it. The cheeseburger grenade explodes against a wall and the thief keeps running.]
Raphael "Tell me I'm imagining this."
Cheeseburger Man "And my 100% processed American cheese food lariat will make sure you don't get away.
Ha ha! Another criminal is served up on a bun by Cheeseburger Man!"
[He lassos the thief and pulls him down.]

[He ties the end of the lariat to a light pole. Raphael walks up to him.]
Raphael "Hey, hey, hey. What are we doing here?"
Cheeseburger Man "Who are you supposed to be, the Super Sailors?"
Donatello "No, we're the Teenage Mutant Ninja Sailors--uh, uh, Turtles."
Michelangelo "And we're the city's numero uno heroes."
Cheeseburger Man "Not anymore, bub."
Raphael "Would you mind explaining that statement?"
Cheeseburger Man "It's obvious you guys don't watch much television."
Donatello "Are you kidding? That's all we ever do."
Michelangelo "Fellow dudes, I think while we were watching all those videotapes, we missed some ultra-weird thing on the news."
Leonardo "We'd better go get an update from April."
[Cut to the turtles inside the Channel 6 news building as they meet with April and Irma.]
Irma "Boy, have you guys been out of it."
April O’Neil "The whole city's been turned upside-down."
Leonardo "By what?"
April "By the contest to find the world's greatest superhero."
Raphael "Who in their right mind sponsors a contest like that?"
April "J. Gordon Hungerdunger, that's who."
Michelangelo "J. Gordon H-Hungerdunger? The world's most famous rich dude?"
Raphael "Gosh, there must be quite a prize for people to run around dressed like cheeseburgers."
April "You bet there is. Look!"
[She activates playback on one of the news department monitors.]
J. Gordon Hungerdunger "You heard right, folks. My men will be everywhere, scouting the city's finest do-gooders, and the most heroic hero of the lot will be given this; the world-famous Malaprop Diamond. Crime has become a disease in this city, and I want to help find the cure."
[Inside the Technodrome, Krang, Shredder, Bebop and Rocksteady watch as well.]
Krang "Do you realize what we can do with that diamond?"
Bebop "Oh, yeah. We could sell it for a zillion dollars and buy lots of comic books."
Rocksteady "And video games."
Bebop "And—"
Krang "Oh, shut up. I could put that diamond to far better use; as a focusing crystal for my calcinator heat ray. With it, we could cut the Technodrome free. We must go to Earth and steal the diamond."
Shredder "Impossible! Hungerdunger's mansion is more heavily guarded than Fort Knox! The only way to get it would be to win that contest.
Stop smiling like that, Krang. I hate it when you smile like that."
[Krang grins.]

Krang "Shredder, you are going to get me that diamond by becoming a g-g...good guy."
Shredder "Me? Never! I have my reputation to think of."
Krang "Oh, very well, then. Bebop and Rocksteady will do it."
Bebop "No way. Bein' bad's more fun."
Krang "But here's your chance to beat the turtles at their own game!"
Shredder "Of course! A new costume, a little rocket power, and you two losers will suddenly be heroes."
Rocksteady "Ooh! Ooh! Maybe we could even get our own TV series."
Bebop "Yeah, and our own comic book."
Rocksteady "Our own comic book?"
Both "We'll do it! We'll do it!"
[Back to the turtles, April, and Irma.]
Leonardo "But why offer a diamond to the city's greatest superhero? It doesn't make sense."
April "It's weirder than that. I had Irma check all the gem registries."
Irma "Yeah, and as far as I can tell, the Malaprop Diamond doesn't even exist."
[The turtles walks through the news building’s parking garage.]
Michelangelo "There is something mondo bizarro about all this, dudes."
[They step out on the sidewalk. A car honks. On the corner is a little old lady using a cane.]
Leonardo "Hey, that lady needs help."
[Suddenly, Vernon, dressed in a costume, runs past them.]
Vernon "Have no fear! Newsman is here!"
Michelangelo "Newsman?"
Raphael "Yeah. I can't wait to meet his sidekick, Weather Boy."
Donatello "That looks like Vernon."
[Vernon grabs onto the old lady and rushes her away.]
Old Lady "Oh, don't tell me you're trying to be a superhero, too."
Donatello "But Vernon doesn't know anything about being a hero."
Raphael "So? He doesn't know anything about being a reporter, either."
Michelangelo "Yeah. Being a hero is a job for us young urban professionals."
Old Lady "Leave me alone! Hi-yah!"
[She grabs Vernon’s arm and flips him over her shoulder.]
Vernon "Whoa! Ohh...Hey! Come back! I'm trying to be helpful!"
Leonardo "Come on. We'd better keep an eye on him."
[Cut to J. Gordon Hungerdunger’s mansion.]
First Butler "Everything is proceeding according to plan, sir. The would-be super heroes are turning this city upside down, sir."
Hungerdunger "Hot dog! While everyone's running around like a bunch of cockeyed coyotes, I'm a-gonna take over this town.
That's it, boys. Go put that stuff in the reservoirs."
[Butlers walk through pushing dollies with canisters on them.]

Second Butler "Very good, sir."
[Meanwhile, the turtles are trying to locate Vernon.]
Michelangelo "Where'd Vernon go?"
Donatello "I don't know, but we've got to find him before he hurts himself."
Raphael "Yeah. He might trip over his cape."
Donatello "Look!"
[A police barricade in front of a bank holds crowds back. A police officer with a megaphone addresses those inside.]
Leonardo "It's some kind of robbery."
Police Officer "All right, we know you're in there. Come out with your hands up."
Vernon "This is a job for... Newsman! Faster than a speeding bulletin, able to do The Locomotion in a single bound."
Leonardo "Oh, no!"
Michelangelo "We've gotta stop him before he gets into some serioso trouble."
Raphael "Or before every criminal in town keels over laughing."
[They strip off their disguises and leap over the barricades. Nearby, a trans-dimensional portal opens and drops Bebop and Rocksteady into an alley.]
Bebop "Come on. We've gotta get into these monkey suits."
[Vernon stands in front of the door to the bank.]
Vernon "All right, you criminals, your number's up.
Oh! Oops. I must have the wrong address."
[The door opens and Vernon finds himself facing a dozen guns of all sizes.]
Oh! Oops. I must have the wrong address."
Leonardo "Come on, Vernon. You're clearing out of here."
Vernon "N-No problem."
Raphael "Now stay put. We'll handle these guys."
Rocksteady "Get ready for the city's newest superhero."
Raphael "Oh, what now?"
[The crowd gasps as Rocksteady and Bebop, in costumes, fly down from above and land in front of the bank.]
Rocksteady "Rhino Man! And his trust sidekick Mighty Hog."
Bebop "Hey! I thought you was gonna be the trusty sidekick."
Michelangelo "Bebop and Rocksteady... as good guys?"
Raphael "This is one of those stories where we wake up at the end and it was all a dream, right?"
Leonardo "I got bad news for you, Raphael. They're for real!"
Rocksteady "Have no fear. Rhino Man is here!"
Bebop "With his trusty sidekick, Mighty Hog."
Raphael "All right, you clowns, knock it off. You aren't fooling anybody."
Bebop "Why, whatever are you talking about? We just want to assist in the never-ending fight against evil."
Rocksteady "Okay, you bad guys, the heroes is coming to get you."
[Bebop destroys the bank door with his stun laser and the pair of mutants enter the bank. There is the sound of fighting, and then they walk out, each carrying two thwarted bank robbers. The crowd cheers and whistles.]
Rocksteady "Here you go, Officer. Make sure they get a nice comfy cell in the city jail."
Raphael "Cut the act, Rocksteady."
Donatello "You're up to something, and we want to know what it is."
Police Officer "Back off, weirdo. This guy is the only one of you so-called super heroes to actually bring a criminal to justice."
Crowd "Yay! Wahoo!"
Donatello "Will you look at that? They really love those two goons."
Rocksteady "Come, Mighty Hog. It is time to go on patrol."
[They activate jet packs concealed under their capes and fly away. They then crash into a utility pole.]
Rocksteady "Oh, gee, I still ain't got the hang of these here jet packs."
Bebop "Come on. We gotta meet up with the boss."
[The turtles have returned to the sewers.]
Donatello "Boy, whoever thought those two creeps would become the heroes of the city?"
Michelangelo "Yeah. It's enough to make you wanna move to the country."
Raphael "If Bebop and Rocksteady are gonna be heroes, then I'm hanging up my shell."
Leonardo "Let's talk with Master Splinter about all this first, Raphael."
Raphael "Hmm. Now, there's something you don't see every day."
[They encounter one of Hungerdunger’s butlers. He’s wheeling a canister through the sewers.]
Second Butler "Excuse me."
Michelangelo "Whoa. you meet the weirdest dudes in the sewers."
[In an alley, another trans-dimensional portal opens and Shredder drops through.]
Shredder "Now where could those two idiots have gotten to?"
Rocksteady "Here we come, boss!"
[Bebop and Rocksteady fall from the sky and land on Shredder.]
Shredder "Ow! Why don't you morons watch where you're flying?"
Bebop "Uh, sorry, boss. These jet packs are tricky."
Rocksteady "So what now?"
Shredder "I'll monitor the police broadcast with this scanner. We'll know whenever a crime is being committed."
Rocksteady "So we can go join in on the fun?"
Shredder "No, you addled-brained airhead! So you can stop it!"
Rocksteady "Oh, yeah. Right."
Shredder "There's a man speeding on 10th Avenue. Go stop him."
Bebop "Right, boss."
[They fly off, leaving a cloud of smoke in Shredder’s face. He starts coughing.]
Shredder "Oh, those morons! I should have handled this hero business myself, but I'd rather eat Brussels sprouts for a week than be a do-gooder."
[A car speeds down the street, past other cars that are honking. Bebop and Rocksteady both land in a trash can.]
Rocksteady "There he goes.
All right, fella, freeze!
Okay. Don't say we didn't warn you."
[The pair step into the center of the street and point their stun lasers at the car.]
All right, fella, freeze!
[The car keeps coming.]
Okay. Don't say we didn't warn you."
[They blast the car to pieces and the driver slides in his car seat to a stop in front of them.]
Bebop "And don't do it again."
[They receive a communication from their boss.]
Shredder "There's a bomb at the civic building."
Rocksteady "We're on it, boss. 10-4."
Police Officer "Everybody, stay back. This building could explode at any moment."
[The pair of mutants hit the sidewalk in front of the Civic Building.]
Both "Oof!"
Police Officer "Why, it's Rhino Man! And his trusty sidekick Mighty Hog."
Rocksteady "We'll handle this."
[They enter the building and then there is an explosion. When they wobble away from the scene and return outside the crowd cheers.]
Police Officer "You saved the city. How can we ever thank you?"
Bebop "Uh, paying our doctor bills would be nice."
Rocksteady "No, no, Mighty Hog. It's all in a day's work for... Rhino Man!"
[They crash into a fire escape.]
Rocksteady "Oh, this hero business is giving me a headache."
[The turtles have returned to the lair.]
Leonardo "I'm telling you, those two punks are up to no good."
Raphael "We've gotta stop 'em somehow."
Donatello "But we can' t fight them when they're upholding the law."
Raphael "Oh, this is a fine time to be logical. Do you realize that next week this show may be called The Adventures of Bebop and Rocksteady?"
Splinter "It is obvious they intend to win the contest. It is also obvious that Shredder is behind this."
Leonardo "But what would Shredder want with a diamond?"
Donatello "Well, he could use it as a giant drill bit or the crystal for some kind of heat ray."
Raphael "Or as an engagement ring for King Kong."
Michelangelo "But April said the diamond's probably bogus anyway."
Splinter "This whole contest is perhaps the greatest mystery. What do you know about this J. Gordon Hungerdunger?"
Donatello "Nothing, really, except that he's rich."
Splinter "I cannot help feeling that he is far more dangerous than Bebop and Rocksteady at this moment."
Raphael "Sounds to me like we'd better find out some more about this Hungerdunger guy."
[At his mansion, Hungerdunger practices a speech in front of a mirror.]
Hungerdunger "Ahem. My fellow citizens, as your new emperor—"
First Butler "The contents of the canisters have all been delivered, sir."
Hungerdunger "Hot diggety! In a little while, I'll have this town wrapped up tighter than a hogtied steer, which means it's time to wrap up this dang-fool superhero contest."
First Butler "But, sir, I thought the contest was just a diversion so we could sabotage the city's water supply."
Hungerdunger "Of course it was."
First Butler "But if you'll pardon me asking, sir, why bother naming a winner?"
Hungerdunger "The juice in those canisters won't affect everybody. I'll need the world's greatest superhero as my chief enforcer."
[As Rocksteady and Bebop fly above the city, they receive instructions.]
Shredder "Head for West 57th and stop a robbery in progress. I'll meet you there."
Rocksteady "Oh, this is getting monotonous."
[They arrive at a home just as a burglar comes running out carrying stolen property.]
Burglar "Rhino Man! I surrender!"
Rocksteady "Oh, okay, lawbreaker, you're under arrest.
You have the right to blah, blah, blah."
[He ties up the burglar with electric cord.]
You have the right to blah, blah, blah."
[Bebop picks up a stuffed bear and hugs it.]
Bebop "Aw. Ain't it cute?"
Shredder "Put it back."
Bebop "Gee, I hate being a good guy."
Rocksteady "Yeah, when do we get that stinking diamond so we can do some damage?"
Shredder "I'm beginning to think this whole contest is phony. It's obviously some kind of a--ooh!"
[A rope ladder hits his head. He looks up to see a helicopter.]
First Butler "I say, down there. Congratulations. You've won the contest."
[Rocksteady starts climbing the ladder.]
Shredder "Oh, I hate being wrong."
[Bebop and Rocksteady enter the helicopter.]
First Butler "Rhino Man, sidekick Mighty Hog, we're going straight to the mansion for the presentation ceremony.
And who do you think you are?"
[Shredder reaches the helicopter.]
And who do you think you are?"
Shredder "I'm their business manager. Do you have a problem with that?"
First Butler "No, no, not really."
[The helicopter leaves. Cut to the Channel 6 news building.]
April "Hungerdunger has only one interest."
Irma "Aside from making money."
Leonardo "And that is?"
April "City politics. He's run for Mayor several times."
Irma "Two years ago, he even tried to buy the city."
April "But he's never been able to win an election."
Leonardo "That's all very interesting, but it doesn't explain why he's holding this contest."
Donatello "With a diamond reward that doesn't even exist."
Michelangelo "Well, thanks, April. It's been confusing."
[Irma pours out two cups of coffee. The turtles walk through the hall.]
Raphael "You know, the more we find out, the less sense everything makes."
[Vernon is taking a drink at the water fountain.]
Vernon "Ah. That was-- a mind-numbing experience."
[He stiffens up.]
Donatello "Hey, Vernon, what's the matter?"
Michelangelo "Yeah, dude, speak to us."
Leonardo "His mind is gone."
Raphael "How can you tell?"
Donatello "Drinking that water must have turned him into some kind of zombie."
Leonardo "We'd better warn April and Irma."
Raphael "April, don't drink any-- Oh, no."
[Both have had the coffee and are frozen.]
Michelangelo "They're zombies, too."
Leonardo "They've been turned into zombies."
Raphael "Well, that's what happens when you work in television too long."
April "We must await orders from Hungerdunger."
Irma "Yes. Hungerdunger is our leader now."
Donatello "They've been turned into Hungerdunger zombies."
Michelangelo "Whoa, and that's the worst kind."
Leonardo "Suddenly this is all making sense. Hungerdunger's going to rule the city by putting some kind of zombie serum in the water."
Donatello "While the whole city's been distracted by the superhero contest."
Raphael "What kind of idiots would get so distracted that they wouldn't notice the water being sabotaged right under their noses?"
Donatello "We would."
Raphael "What?"
Donatello "That weird guy we saw pushing a metal canister through the sewers, remember?"
Leonardo "He must have been one of Hungerdunger's men."
Donatello "Then we've gotta get to Hungerdunger's mansion."
Raphael "Why?"
Donatello "Because that's where we'll find the antidote to that zombie serum."
Michelangelo "What antidote, dude?"
Donatello "There's gotta be an antidote. Otherwise, Hungerdunger and his men would become zombies, too."
Leonardo "And we've got to hurry. Everyone who drinks water becomes another one of Hungerdunger's zombies."
[They leave the news building and see crowds gathered on the street, all in a zombie trance.]
Michelangelo "Whoa, there must be a lot of thirsty people out there."
Crowd "Hungerdunger, Hungerdunger, Hungerdunger, Hungerdunger..."
[Shredder meets with Hungerdunger.]
Shredder "My two, uh, clients have proved their worth. Give them the diamond now!"
Hungerdunger "They've certainly earned it."
[He pulls a covering off of the diamond which sits on a pedestal.]
Shredder "Oh, at last. At last!"
Hungerdunger "Now hold on a moment, son. Those two boys earned that diamond, not you. They're the heroes. You're just their manager. And I want them to meet their public first."
Second Butler "Sir, I suggest we dispense with these do-gooders before they make trouble."
Hungerdunger "No. I want them in my power. Fetch 'em something to drink.
Folks, I want y'all to meet the city's greatest hero; Rhino Nose."
[He walks out onto his balcony with Rocksteady and Bebop. A crowd awaits.]
Folks, I want y'all to meet the city's greatest hero; Rhino Nose."
Rocksteady "That's Man."
Hungerdunger "And his trusty sidekick Warthog Boy."
Bebop "The name's Mighty Hog."
Hungerdunger "Now, now, I know you fellas are just itchin' to go out and fight more crime, but first, a sparkling water toast to your great success."
[The butler arrives with a tray holding glasses of water. Before they can pick up the glasses, they are destroyed by a blast from the Turtle Blimp.]
Donatello "Not so fast, Tex. We've come for those three goons and the antidote."
Hungerdunger "Who--Who are those fellows?"
Shredder "It's those accursed turtles!"
Rocksteady "The worst criminals in all the land."
Hungerdunger "But as the city's greatest heroes, I order you to stop them."
Shredder "With pleasure."
Hungerdunger "Remember, son, they're the heroes. You're just the deputy."
Shredder "Ohh!"
[Bebop and Rocksteady use their jet packs to fly towards the turtles.]
Leonardo "Here they come!"
Rocksteady "Okay, you turtles, get ready to deal with the real heroes!"
Bebop "We're gonna make this town safe from do-gooders like you."
[They shoot their lasers at the turtles.]
Donatello "If he hits the blimp, we're gonna make a very hard landing."
Michelangelo "Like, where’d he go?"
[Bebop hits the pod next to Michelangelo and grabs the steering mechanism.]
Bebop "It's time for your final descent."
Turtles "Whoa! Whoa! Oh, man! Yikes!"
[Donatello finds the jet pack controls and presses a button which shoots Bebop into the air.]
Bebop "Whoa! You little creep! Whoa!"
[He flies out of control and busts through the roof of the mansion, rolls down a hallway and hits the wall. A portrait lands on his head. Rocksteady clings to the back of the blimp.]
Rocksteady "This'll burst your balloon, turtles!"
[He punctures the blimp.]
Donatello "Uh, fellas, I think we've sprung a little leak."
Leonardo "Then let's bail out!"
[They disengage the main body and the blimp spins and whips around with Rocksteady still clinging to it.]
Rocksteady "Maybe this wasn't such a hot idea.
Whoa! Aah--Woo!"
[He falls, crashes through the roof, and lands on Bebop.]
Whoa! Aah--Woo!"
Both "Oof!"
Rocksteady "Fancy meeting you here."
[The turtles fire on the mansion.]
Hungerdunger "Well, if your boys, can't stop those turtles, I will!"
[A cupid statue on stop of the brick fencing drops its bow and picks up a ray gun. It fires at the turtles.]
Raphael "Why do I have the feeling if those rays hit us, we won't fall in love?"
Leonardo "Donatello, take 'em out!"
[Donatello steers between two cupids. They both turn to fire at the turtles and instead shoot each other and break into pieces. The turtles then drop onto the roof of the mansion.]
Raphael "Let's pay these creeps a house call."
[They use their turtle lines to swing into the mansion. The sounds of multiple guns cocking stop them.]
Michelangelo "Uh-oh. Looks like we're about to get some serious service."
[Hungerdunger and his armed butlers face off with the turtles.]
Hungerdunger "Destroy those turtles."
First Butler "As you wish, sir."
[They start firing and the turtles duck for cover behind some pillars.]
Turtles "Whoa! Watch it! Look out! Aah!"
Leonardo "We've gotta put those guys out of commission fast."
Raphael "Then we have no choice but to use the oldest trick in the book."
[He backflips until he’s alongside the butlers, who are standing on a long rug. Raphael grabs the rug and yanks it out from under them. They all fall.]
Butlers "Whoa!"
Leonardo "Hi-yah!"
[He swings down and slices through a tapestry, which falls on the butlers. Michelangelo throws his turtle line and lassoes the entire group. Hungerdunger runs, but Donatello pole vaults at him and kicks him down.]
Donatello "Hi-yah!"
Hungerdunger "Oof!"
Donatello "Hold it right there, partner."
Leonardo "Where's that antidote?"
Hungerdunger "Uh...the diamond."
Michelangelo "What do you mean, the diamond?"
Hungerdunger "The antidote's in the diamond."
Leonardo "Oh, no!"
Donatello "I suppose this wouldn't be the best time to mention that we haven't seen much of Shredder lately."
[Shredder breaks the glass case protecting the diamond and grabs it.]
Shredder "At last, the Malaprop Diamond is ours! Krang, activate the portal. In a few moments, the calcinator heat ray will be activated!"
[He starts for the portal, but the turtles jump on him and his two mutants.]
Turtles "Go, green machine!"
[The diamond bounces away, but Donatello grabs it. A fight ensues between the turtles and their enemies.]
Shredder "You wretched turtles! I'll teach you to mess with me!"
Raphael "You don't have to. We've been messing with you for years!"
[Donatello pours water out of a vase and then pops open the diamond to pour its contents into the vase. Shredder menaces Raphael.]
Shredder "Now, turtle, I'll finish you with my bare hand."
Donatello "Hey, Shredder, catch!"
[He throws the diamond at Shredder who catches it and darts into the portal. Shredder hands the diamond to Krang.]
Shredder "Krang, install the diamond. Bebop, Rocksteady, man the controls. I'm going to reopen the portal and blast those turtles to bits!"
[Back at the mansion...]
Leonardo "Why did you give him the diamond without a fight, Donatello?"
Donatello "Because I already got the antidote. Besides, it was just a glass beaker that looked like a diamond. That calcinator heat ray will never work."
[The portal opens again next to them.]
Raphael "Uh-oh. I've got a feeling we're gonna find out in about two seconds."
[The calcinator heat ray is aimed at them through the portal.]
Shredder "Now, turtles, meet your doom! Do it, Bebop."
[Bebop presses the button on the calcinator and it explodes.]
Bebop "You little creeps!"
[The portal closes.]
Donatello "What did I tell you?"
Raphael "Donatello, I'll never doubt you again."
[The interior of the Technodrome is a mess.]
Shredder "I don't believe it! All that work for a fake diamond!"
Bebop "Well, at least something good came out of it, boss."
Rocksteady "That's right. Me and Bebop have learned our lesson."
Bebop "We are never going straight again."
[The turtles watch April’s news report on their television at the lair.]
April "When the antidote was placed in the water supply, people everywhere returned to normal, thanks to the city's real heroes; the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."
