Reincarnation is the concept that after death, an individual's soul or essence is reborn in a new physical body, and is able to live a new life. It is a central tenet in the Dharmic faiths, including Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism and Sikhism.

Reincarnation is a particularly important concept in the IDW continuity, due to Splinter and the Turtles being the reincarnations of the human Foot Ninja Hamato Yoshi and his four sons. It is worth noting that reincarnation is not depicted as the norm, as other deceased individuals (including Yoshi's wife, Tang Shen) are depicted as moving on to some form of afterlife rather than being reborn.
