Raphael is a member of the Ninja Turtles, and is considered the muscle of the group.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles issue 1[]
Raph and his brothers encountered the Foot Clan on a rooftop in New York City, and energetically attacked them. However, combat turned ugly when one of them - whom Donatello and Michelangelo nicknamed "Steve" - was able to overwhelm and defeat Raphael. Though the Turtles drove back the Foot Clan, this loss bothered Raphael.
Later, the Turtles caught "Steve" trying to break into Mason Technologies. Steve morphed and revealed himself to be the Green Power Ranger, Tommy Oliver. His morphing clued the other Rangers into his location, and upon seeing the Turtles fighting Tommy, assumed they were Rita Repulsa's monsters and attacked them. Raphael fought Kimberly Hart and Trini Kwan.
